About The Position

The Senior Director of Support Services is responsible for the strategic planning, organization, direction, control, and evaluation of Support Services at Stanford Health Care - Tri-Valley. This includes oversight of PEMS, Environmental Services, Food and Nutrition, Facilities/Engineering, Space, Facilities Design and Construction, and shared services with SHC for EH&S, Parking and security services. The Senior Director is accountable for ensuring quality, safety, and financial performance across these departments. The Senior Director will provide visionary leadership and collaborate with key stakeholders to achieve organizational objectives related to quality, safety, service, and financial performance. This role involves guiding staff in effective job performance and ensuring the continuous improvement of operations. The Senior Director will ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and oversee the planning and implementation of action plans to meet annual goals and improvement metrics. Building and maintaining strong relationships with senior stakeholders, peers, and direct reports is essential.

Requirements

  • 5+ years to 7 years of leadership experience in healthcare Required
  • Strong collaborative skills with department staff and the communities served.
  • Excellent operational, negotiating, and strategic decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to plan, implement, and evaluate change effectively.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for diverse audiences.
  • Ability to make informed decisions based on sound judgment.

  • Master's Degree in Business or Health Administration Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Dept leaders to establish annual and quarterly objectives for operational areas and execute action plans to achieve results.
  • Facilitate the systematic purchase of capital equipment, incorporating input from administrative, medical, and clinical staff.
  • Assist department directors in preparing annual budgets, considering capital equipment, personnel, inventories, and other costs.
  • Develop and monitor operating budgets, ensuring alignment with established financial goals.
  • Conduct quarterly reviews of operational departments in partnership with Dept leaders to ensure quality patient care and staff support.
  • Develop and implement a Quality Assurance Program in collaboration with Dept leaders and area leaders to meet quality, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and maintain effective record management systems.
  • Monitor compliance with external agency regulations and follow up on recommendations from surveys and inspections.
  • Oversee the development and review of policies and procedures addressing operational, management, and regulatory responsibilities.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with Dept leaders, staff, physicians, and hospital administration.
  • Develop orientation and continuing education programs to assess and maintain staff competency.
  • Collaborate with physician leadership to develop short- and long-term plans to achieve organizational objectives.
  • Provide mentorship and feedback to departmental staff, ensuring compliance with evaluation and competency assessment standards.
  • Promote employee growth and development through effective leadership and communication.
  • Lead recruitment efforts and ensure appropriate orientation for new hires.
  • Represent the hospital brand in community and strategic meetings, staying informed about local political, economic, and competitive climates.
  • Employee must perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the C-I-CARE Standards of the Hospital.
