About The Position

Goddard is a partner within the Manhattan Outreach Consortium (MOC) a borough-wide initiative to serve the unsheltered community. The Senior Director of Homeless Outreach provides administrative and clinical oversight of program operations including staff supervision and collaboration within the Goddard MOC teams (Uptown Goddard, Downtown Goddard, and Night & Weekend Team) ensuring continuity and consistency of services across all teams and shifts. The Sr. Director of Homeless Outreach is responsible for working with multiple funders, data collection and reporting, meeting all government regulations and deliverables, quality provision of services, and budget management.

Requirements

  • LMSW required, LCSW preferred.
  • SIFI certified strongly preferred.
  • Experience with formerly homeless individuals with mental illness required.
  • Program management and supervisory experience of 3+ years required.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based practice i.e.: motivational interviewing, harm reduction, and housing first models.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to show creativity and enthusiasm on program design.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills.
  • Organized and systems orientated.
  • Leadership ability.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent judgment and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work in the Microsoft Office Suite, should especially be proficient in Word and Outlook.
  • Familiar with cloud-based payroll platforms such as Paycom (supervisor/manager functionality).
  • Able to use or learn other electronic databases, programs, and funder-related software as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise the Program Directors for Goddard’s 3 Outreach teams: Downtown, Uptown, and Night & Weekend team comprised of approximately 80 staff plus per-diems.
  • Support Program Directors in leadership and growth opportunities.
  • Assist teams in hiring process with emphasis on staff growth with Goddard’s new HUD programming.
  • Ensure ongoing staff training on client care issues, agency policies, best practices, and case management across teams, with emphasis on ensuring overnight teams receiving consistent trainings.
  • Facilitate monthly group meetings of Goddard MOC program directors to standardize, streamline, and coordinate services across teams.
  • Support teams during risk assessments: assess unsheltered individuals that are at imminent risk, to themselves or others, and enact 9.58 removals from the street to be assessed in CPEP for further evaluation.
  • Assist teams by supervising MSW students for their internship as field supervisor.
  • Oversee new HUD funding to enhance current outreach services including understanding and educating on HUD requirements, creation of policies and procedures, reporting needs, and hiring/onboarding of new program staff.
  • Facilitate standardization (when possible) of program policies and procedures, including onboarding materials across all Goddard MOC teams.
  • Review grant proposals for possible program growth.
  • Oversee the development and implementation of performance plans to meet program targets.
  • Evaluate and strengthen systems for monitoring progress towards targets.
  • Work with program directors, senior leadership and fiscal on preparation and monitoring of overall MOC budget.
  • Assist in developing program budget and monitor program expenses.
  • Communicate with various community stakeholders, city council members, elected, Dept. of Homeless Services (DHS), local precincts, community boards, hospitals, and other concerned community members to support the teams.
  • Coordinate and review submission of funder reports; ensuring deliverables are being met at all Goddard MOC Teams.
  • Serve as a point of contact for high priority MOC issues to report to MOC leadership.
  • Serve as liaison to other programs in GRCC’s continuum of services to ensure quality service provision and collaboration across the agency.
  • Other duties as required, on call as needed.
