About The Position

The Senior Director of Operations will oversee the organization’s daily business activities in the Lexington, TN facility. This critical leader is charged with ensuring the safe and efficient performance of the facilities, employees, and operations through the implementation of manufacturing strategies and action plans to ensure that the facility supports Nidec/Nidec Power America’s strategic objectives. The Senior Director will be responsible for managing resources, developing and implementing an operational plan and charged with the execution of procedures in support of the plan. S/he will regularly evaluate organizational efficiency and recommend/make necessary changes to maximize staff and operational productivity. Additionally, this leader will be critical to the successful deployment of significant capital into the facility to support Nidec’s growth. The Senior Director of Operations will understand the needs of the company and provide overall leadership and direction in alignment with those needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Business Management, or related field
  • 10+ years of experience in a manufacturing-driven organization, with five (5) or more years managing multi-functional departments in a discrete manufacturing environment
  • Ability to operate with a global manufacturing perspective
  • Deep understanding of and history of effectively deploying Lean/Continuous Improvement Tools
  • Strong business and financial acumen, with proven experience with capital budgets and capital projects
  • Demonstrated change agent that also comprehends and effectively manages the cultural component
  • Effective advanced problem-solving, facilitation, and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe and environmentally sound production facility for the company and its employees
  • Encourage and lead the continued implementation and development of participatory management and employee involvement within the facility
  • Work with staff/employees on a continuous basis to develop, refine and promote improvement of individual/team capabilities and interpersonal skills
  • Manage the efforts of plant staff, directly and indirectly, to provide leadership to functional areas on a day-to-day basis across Production, Manufacturing Engineering, Lean/CI, Maintenance, and EH&S with strong dotted line to Materials and Quality
  • Meet organizational goals for safety, production volumes, quality and cost efficiencies
  • Coordinate budgeting and forecasting for the facility (operating and capital) consistent with division and corporate objectives
  • Provide leadership in the successful deployment of significant capital investment over the next three years
  • Provide timely and thorough reporting to management on all aspects of the operation
  • Ensure efficient operations with focus on continuous improvement in all areas
  • Define, implement and measure operational policies and guidelines for the organization
  • Partner with Human Resources to create job descriptions, hire competent personnel and oversee employee training programs
  • Work with the Human Resources department to develop and implement staff evaluations
  • Coordinate with departmental heads to develop financial plans and ensure company-wide compliance
  • Focus on the company's revenue margins and conduct budget reviews to maximize profit creation
  • Participate in / oversees client support activities
  • Manage procurement and resource allocation
