About The Position

The Senior Director of Office of Medical Education provides oversight, leadership and strategic direction for the central administrative functions supporting the medical school curriculum, student learning, and assessment. The Senior Director works collaboratively with faculty, staff, and students to ensure the delivery of a high-quality, innovative, and effective medical education program that meets accreditation standards and prepares future physicians for the evolving healthcare landscape.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in education, medical education, higher education administration, or a related field, required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in medical education administration or a related field, preferably within a medical school setting, required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of medical school curriculum development, delivery, and assessment, required.
  • Experience leading LCME–related processes, required.
  • Strong data management, analysis, and reporting skills, required.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills; proven ability to collaborate with faculty, staff, and students, required.
  • Ability to take initiative, problem-solve, and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment, required.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage professionally with executives, faculty, students, and visitors, required.
  • Experience developing and executing operational plans, policies, and workflows across the UME lifecycle (pre‑clerkship, clerkship, post‑clerkship), required.

Nice To Haves

  • Supervisory experience including coaching, performance management, and workload planning, preferred.
  • Project management or change management training/certification, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Senior Associate Dean for Undergraduate Medical Education and faculty leadership to develop and implement the vision, goals, and strategic direction for the Office of Undergraduate Medical Education (OUME).
  • Establishes and oversees the operational infrastructure of the OUME, including policies, procedures, workflows, and budgets.
  • Recruits, supervises, and mentors staff within the Office of Undergraduate Medical Education.
  • Develops, where appropriate, staff development and growth plans.
  • Oversees the administrative support for curriculum committees and working groups.
  • Manages the OUME budget, holding sections accountable to their approved budget.
  • Assists in the preparation of accreditation self-study reports and site visits.
  • Maintains accurate records and documentation related to the medical education program.
  • Develops and maintain effective communication channels with students, faculty, and staff regarding educational policies and procedures.
  • Fosters a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Lead, coach, and develop direct reports, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and high performance.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one meetings and performance evaluations, providing feedback and professional development opportunities.
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of direct reports to ensure alignment with organizational standards and practices.
  • Monitor and manage team performance, addressing attendance, conduct, or productivity issues promptly and professionally.
  • Model professionalism and service excellence, serving as a role model for your team in maintaining quality and operational standards.
  • Encourage employee engagement and morale through recognition and open communication practices.
