About The Position

The Senior Director of Major and Institutional Giving provides strategic leadership and active engagement in Every Home for Christ’s relational fundraising efforts, including major gifts, foundation partnerships, and planned giving. This role leads and develops the Major Gifts Team while personally managing and cultivating a select portfolio of major donor and foundation relationships, ensuring disciplined portfolio management, effective donor engagement strategies, and strong alignment between ministry priorities and philanthropic opportunities. Working closely with the Chief of Staff and the President/CEO, the Senior Director of Major and Institutional Giving cultivates meaningful and long-term partnerships with donors and foundations while equipping gift officers to build strong, mission-aligned relationships that advance the ministry of Every Home for Christ. This role works in close collaboration with the organization’s broader fundraising and marketing teams to ensure strong alignment between relational donor engagement and programmatic fundraising efforts across the ministry.

Requirements

  • Has an active and personal relationship with Jesus Christ
  • Active attendance/participation at local church
  • minimum of Bachelor’s degree in International Business, Non-Profit Management or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in successful nonprofit fundraising, philanthropy, or development
  • 5+ years of successful formal team leadership
  • biblical/spiritual leadership background; minister license or ordination by Every Home for Christ or similar church denomination in good standing.

  • Demonstrated strength in written and verbal communication, with the ability to clearly and compellingly convey mission and impact
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively across teams and functions, including partnership with fundraising and marketing efforts
  • Demonstrated experience working effectively in cross-cultural or global contexts
  • Demonstrated sound judgment, decision-making ability, and alignment with organizational values and mission
  • Proven organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively
  • Demonstrated professionalism and ability to represent an organization effectively with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience using donor databases and fundraising systems (Raiser’s Edge/NXT or comparable systems preferred)
  • Experience working in or alongside nonprofit or ministry-based organizations
  • Must be able to travel 25-40% domestic/international

Responsibilities

  • Convey Every Home for Christ’s religious message and beliefs, including the Every Home for Christ Mission, Vision, and Founding Principles, to partners, major donors, and the community; communicating a biblical vision of stewardship and generosity.
  • Uphold and communicate Every Home for Christ Mission, Vision, and Founding Principles.
  • Lead prayer/devotionals/church services on a regular basis for various partners, individual donors, partner churches and ministries located domestically and internationally

  • Constantly display a passion for the mission of Every Home as well as our faith values to all donors and prospects
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of Every Home for Christ global strategies, projects, etc that are fundraising priorities and works in successful collaboration and inclusion of all other departments
  • Represents the mission, religious beliefs, and values of Every Home for Christ in all interactions with current and prospective donors or external relationships.
  • Demonstrate personal integrity and generosity in engaging with the mission of the ministry.
  • Follows the spiritual requirements, disciplines, and biblical moral conduct necessary for a minister of the Gospel with Every Home for Christ.
  • Provides leadership, planning and consultation to subordinates, executives, and peer management in the successful alignment of assigned department resources to ensure achievement of operational priorities and initiatives, integrating priorities within organizational strategies to ensure that department's purpose is fulfilled.
  • Contributes to and adheres to the annual budget and departmental expenses, ensuring accountability for on-time completion of deliverables based on department objectives, and other Every Home standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory and ministry policies.
  • Selects, manages and develops assigned staff, establishing goals and objectives, coaching and managing performance, including discipline, motivation, and regular reviews; supports continuous learning and development that enhances individual performance and organizational capability.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Major Gifts Team, equipping gift officers to effectively manage and grow donor portfolios through cultivating meaningful, long-term partnerships with major donors.
  • Lead the Major Gifts Team through the implementation and execution of established fundraising strategies, donor engagement standards, and moves management practices in alignment with organizational priorities and executive leadership direction.
  • Establish and communicate clear expectations, performance metrics, and accountability systems to ensure disciplined portfolio management and consistent donor engagement practices across the team.
