About The Position

The Grants and Institutional Giving Specialist position supports WFYI Public Media’s institutional fundraising efforts by securing grant funding that advances WFYI’s mission of trusted journalism, inspiring stories, and lifelong learning. Working collaboratively across departments, this position helps translate WFYI’s strategic priorities, programs, and community impact into compelling proposals and reports for foundations, government agencies, and other institutional funders and is responsible for ensuring effective grant management, timely deliverables, and compliance with funder requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, English, nonprofit management, public administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Three or more years of professional experience in grant writing, institutional fundraising, nonprofit development, public funding, or a related field.
  • Experience preparing or coordinating grant proposals, reports, and supporting materials for foundations, government agencies, or other institutional funders.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, phones, printers, and copiers.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time and to move intermittently throughout the workday.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and in writing.
  • Ability to lift, kneel, carry and position items up to 25 pounds at times.
  • May be required to have and maintain a valid driver’s license, a satisfactory motor vehicle record and WFYI’s insurance requirements to drive WFYI vehicles.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in nonprofit fundraising, public media, arts, journalism, education, or other mission-driven organizations is highly desirable.
