The primary purpose of the Senior Director of Finance position is to take a leadership role in finance department projects while setting direction for team members for WHV in the area of financial accounting and reporting. In connection with the VP of Finance, administers and implements established plans and overall policies and goals for the Finance department and sets the tone and maintains a positive working environment for the department in accordance with our core values. It is anticipated this position will support or develop a plan to support organizational growth initiatives to include but not limited to expanded or new service lines, partnerships and other opportunities that are identified.

Requirements

  • Seven to ten years of accounting and finance experience, ideally in the nonprofit sector.
  • Experience gathering, evaluating, presenting, and reporting financial information to executive teams and boards.
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration or major in Accounting or related field.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience managing an Accounting team.
  • At least seven years’ total experience in accounting/finance.
  • Experience with monthly close process, budgeting and auditing are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply sound accounting and business principles.
  • Ability to organize and manage multiple deliverables, deadlines, and priorities in a fluid environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Outstanding communication abilities.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time efficiently.
  • Able to build strong interpersonal relationships with leadership team members.
  • Ability to be a “big picture” thinker.
  • Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions.

Nice To Haves

  • CPA preferred.
  • Healthcare, Senior Living, Life Plan Community and/or non-profit experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Take a leadership role in finance department projects.
  • Set direction for team members in financial accounting and reporting.
  • Administer and implement established plans and overall policies and goals for the Finance department in connection with the VP of Finance.
  • Set the tone and maintain a positive working environment for the department in accordance with core values.
  • Support or develop a plan to support organizational growth initiatives, including expanded or new service lines, partnerships, and other identified opportunities.
  • Assist developing, implementing, and maintaining an annual review of policies and procedures for the day-to-day operations of the department(s).
  • Complete all appropriate reports and paperwork as required.
  • Ensure department(s) are in regulatory compliance.
  • Volunteer to serve on committees and/or participate when designated.
  • Ensure compliance with local, state and federal hiring requirements.
  • Ensure that White Horse Village is a place where all safety practices are maintained.
  • Maintain positive communications within the department.
  • Facilitate positive communications inter-departmentally.
  • Attend and actively participate in required meetings.
  • Produce written communication that is clear and concise.
  • Maintain confidentiality of resident and White Horse Village business issues.
  • Develop an accurate annual budget for areas of oversight.
  • Provide for the capital needs of the community through input to the capital budget.
  • Monitor spending to ensure conformance with budget projections.
  • Allocate appropriate resources to department(s) to assure efficient and effective implementation of departmental activities.
  • Model the mission statement so that it is clearly understood and emulated by all team members.
  • Represent the organization in a professional manner.
  • Foster cooperation within the department as well as between departments.
  • Demonstrate appropriate supervisory/leadership skills.
  • Demonstrate problem-solving skills and can resolve issues with residents, families and team members in a professional manner.
  • Resolve conflict with minimal disruption to department operations.
