About The Position

The Senior Director of Community Engagement will be responsible for developing and implementing community engagement strategies to support the mission and goals of Texas Family Care Network within designated region. The Senior Director of Community Engagement will work with community members, partners, and other stakeholders to build and maintain relationships, increase awareness of the organization's programs and services, and foster engagement and participation in its initiatives. This position will oversee Texas Family Care Network Engagement staff, including those assigned to engage families and youth. In addition, the Senior Director of Community Engagement works alongside the Texas Family Care Network Chief Executive Officer and Vice President of Community Based Care to coordinate communications on behalf of Texas Family Care Network. The Senior Director of Community Engagement will work closely with other staff members to ensure the organization's initiatives align with community needs and interests. The successful candidate will be a collaborative, creative, and results-driven professional with a strong commitment to the organization's mission and values.

Requirements

  • Requires a high school diploma.
  • Requires a valid state driver’s license and safe driving record.
  • Requires reliable transportation and current auto insurance.
  • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, five (5) years of experience in communications, social work, community development, or nonprofit management.
  • Five (5) years of experience in community engagement or similar work in the nonprofit sector.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies capacity building opportunities and assist in developing these with leadership team to add to the array of services for children/families.
  • Develops and implements community engagement strategies and plans to promote Community-Based care.
  • Collaborates with other staff members to develop and implement programs that align with the organization's mission and goals.
  • Coordinates and facilitates media interviews, photo shoots, and other media opportunities.
  • Prepares executives and other spokespeople for media interviews and public appearances.
  • Monitors media coverage and provide regular reports to the organization's leadership.
  • Manages media inquiries and coordinate responses with relevant internal stakeholders.
  • Manages all media relations including crisis communications.
  • Manages multiple social media channels and digital marketing campaigns.
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of community engagement strategies and programs and make recommendations for improvement.
  • Attends conferences, seminars, and training opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Receives supervision from and actively communicate with supervisor on an ongoing basis throughout the week by phone, email, written message and when possible, in person regarding program matters.
  • Supervises staff directly or their supervisors depending upon the personnel actions including action plans, hiring, terminations, recruitment, vacation and sick day requests.
  • Ensures that program staffing is qualified and provides continued safety of children served with high rates of success/program completion.
  • Supervises team and support staff, ensuring their professional development and performance.
  • Promotes positive experiences and community stories related to Community-Based care and Texas Family Care Network.
  • Identifies and cultivates relationships with community members, partners, and other stakeholders to build support and participation that supports Texas Family Care Network and children/families in Region 5.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with key community leaders and stakeholders to ensure the organization's programs are responsive to community needs.
  • Coordinates and takes part in community events, meetings, and other activities to build relationships and engage with community members.
  • Provides support and guidance to volunteers and community members on any initiatives for Texas Family Care Network.
  • Drafts and distributes press releases, media alerts, and other media materials.
  • Ensures the organization's messaging is consistent and aligned with the organization's goals and values.
