About The Position

The Senior Director, Global Infrastructure Technology & Operations will lead iRhythm’s enterprise infrastructure strategy, architecture, operations, and modernization across cloud, networking, data center and hardware, end-user computing, and security infrastructure. This role will ensure that iRhythm’s technology foundation is resilient, secure, compliant, and scalable enough to support 24/7 clinical operations, manufacturing, global commercial growth, and the company’s expanding data and AI capabilities. This senior leadership role combines executive leadership, hands-on technical depth, organizational development, financial stewardship, and close partnership with the Chief Data Officer and head of IT, CISO, Quality/Regulatory, Engineering, and business leaders. The role works hand in hand with the CISO: Security defines the requirements and provides oversight, while Infrastructure delivers and operates the platforms, controls, and services that enable the business.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive experience in enterprise infrastructure, including 7+ years leading multi-disciplinary infrastructure teams at the director level or above.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven strength in ability to balance strategic vision with execution excellence, developing organizational capability while creating the capacity, accountability, and focus needed to consistently deliver on business and technology priorities.
  • Deep hands-on and architectural expertise in at least one major cloud platform, preferably AWS and/or GCP, with experience running multi-cloud and hybrid environments.
  • Strong background in enterprise networking and hands-on experience engineering and operating security infrastructure in partnership with a security organization.
  • Proven experience operating infrastructure in a regulated industry such as medical devices, life sciences, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, or financial services.
  • Working knowledge of FDA regulations, including 21 CFR Part 11 and 21 CFR Part 820, as well as frameworks such as HIPAA, SOC 2, ISO 27001, and NIST CSF.
  • Track record of leading large-scale transformation programs, including cloud migration, data center consolidation, network modernization, or comparable enterprise initiatives.
  • Experience owning budgets of meaningful scale and managing strategic technology, cloud, telecom, and managed service vendors.
  • Excellent executive communication and influencing skills and the ability to translate technical risk, resilience, and investment into business outcomes.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a medical device, digital health, or connected-device company supporting 24/7 clinical services.
  • Experience supporting manufacturing or OT networks and familiarity with IEC 62443 or similar OT security practices.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure for data and AI platforms, including Snowflake, Databricks, ML/GPU workloads, and enterprise AI tools.
  • Global infrastructure experience across the United States, United Kingdom/Europe, and Asia-Pacific, including data residency requirements.
  • Certifications such as AWS or GCP Professional Architect, CCIE/CCNP,
  • MBA or advanced degree.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute a multi-year enterprise infrastructure strategy and roadmap aligned to iRhythm’s business, clinical, data, and AI objectives.
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing infrastructure organization across cloud, network, operations, end-user services, and managed service partners.
  • Establish infrastructure architecture standards, reference patterns, governance, and operating models across business units and geographies.
  • Serve as the senior infrastructure advisor to executive leadership, translating strategy, risk, investment, and performance into business terms.
  • Own the enterprise multi-cloud strategy across AWS, GCP, Azure, and Microsoft 365, including landing zones, account and project structure, identity integration, and guardrails.
  • Lead cloud platform engineering using Infrastructure as Code, automation, infrastructure CI/CD, and policy-as-code.
  • Drive FinOps practices, including cost visibility, optimization, reserved-capacity strategy, and chargeback/showback.
  • Enable modern data and AI platforms—including Snowflake, enterprise AI and search platforms, and ML/GPU workloads—with secure, scalable, well-governed infrastructure and private connectivity patterns.
  • Lead workload migration and modernization from on-premises environments to cloud where appropriate.
  • Own enterprise network architecture across corporate offices, clinical and IDTF sites, manufacturing facilities, data centers, and cloud environments, including LAN, WAN, SD-WAN, Wi-Fi, SASE, DNS, and load balancing.
  • Design secure hybrid and multi-cloud connectivity using Direct Connect, Interconnect, private endpoints, VPN, and transit architectures.
  • Implement network segmentation and isolation for manufacturing/OT and clinical environments in alignment with Zero Trust principles.
  • Ensure high availability, performance monitoring, and capacity planning for mission-critical clinical and patient-facing services.
  • Oversee on-premises and colocation data centers, compute, storage, backup, and virtualization platforms, including lifecycle management and rationalization.
  • Own the hardware asset lifecycle, including procurement, standards, refresh cycles, and secure disposal.
  • Lead end-user computing across endpoints, MDM, collaboration tools, service desk, and conference room technology to deliver a secure and productive employee experience.
  • Support infrastructure for manufacturing sites and clinical operations, including device and equipment connectivity where applicable.
  • Implement, operate, and maintain infrastructure security controls in alignment with the security strategy, policies, and standards set by the CISO.
  • Own the day-to-day engineering and operation of network and platform security technologies such as firewalls, WAF, proxies/SASE, NAC, and VPN, with the CISO’s team defining requirements, configuration standards, and monitoring.
  • Embed security by design across infrastructure through hardening baselines, secure configurations, and Infrastructure-as-Code guardrails.
  • Own timely vulnerability remediation and patching across infrastructure assets, meeting SLAs defined by the Security team.
  • Operate identity and directory infrastructure, including SSO, MFA, and directory services, in support of the CISO-led Zero Trust and identity roadmap.
  • Partner with the CISO’s organization during security incidents by providing infrastructure expertise, containment, remediation, logs, telemetry, and integrations needed for detection and response.
  • Ensure infrastructure meets applicable regulatory and compliance obligations, including FDA QMSR (21 CFR Part 820), 21 CFR Part 11, HIPAA/HITECH, SOC 2, ISO 13485, ISO 27001, GDPR/UK GDPR, and other international requirements.
  • Partner with the CISO, Quality, and Regulatory teams to maintain infrastructure controls and evidence for audits, with Security owning the control framework and this role owning control execution for infrastructure.
  • Support computer system validation (CSV/CSA) for GxP-relevant infrastructure, along with change control and audit readiness.
  • Lead infrastructure responses during internal, customer, and regulatory audits.
  • Protect patient health information through appropriate data residency, encryption, access controls, and logging.
  • Own business continuity and disaster recovery for infrastructure, with defined RTO/RPO targets for clinical and business-critical systems and regular DR testing.
  • Build observability, monitoring, and alerting practices using SRE principles, SLOs, and error budgets for critical services.
