About The Position

The Senior Director, Data Science, leads the development and execution of advanced data strategies and machine learning solutions to drive business value across multiple domains. This role requires deep expertise in analytical modeling, data visualization, and stakeholder collaboration to translate complex business requirements into actionable insights. The position oversees model deployment, validation, and scaling while mentoring teams and fostering innovation. By aligning data initiatives with organizational objectives, the Senior Director ensures impactful decision-making and continuous improvement, supporting Walmart’s commitment to operational excellence and customer-centric solutions. The team leads strategic development for the Ambient First Mile ecosystem, focusing on Domestic and International supplier and seller First Mile injection. It drives inventory strategies across retail and omni-replenishment capabilities, ensuring alignment with business objectives. Collaborating closely with stakeholders, the team leverages data strategy, machine learning, and business analysis to deliver impactful solutions. Members contribute to shaping innovative approaches that enhance operational efficiency and support Walmart’s growth. This group values clear communication, strategic thinking, and a commitment to excellence in advancing data-driven initiatives within a complex, dynamic environment.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in data science, including advanced machine learning, statistical modeling, and analytical techniques.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, SQL, Java, and R for code development, testing, and deployment.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to translate complex data insights into actionable strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Expertise in data strategy, governance, and ecosystem management to maximize data value and scalability.
  • Proven leadership in mentoring teams, managing stakeholders, and driving cross-functional collaboration.
  • Skilled in data visualization tools and techniques to communicate insights effectively to cross functional stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to design, validate, and deploy predictive models ensuring accuracy and sustainability.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 7 years' experience in an analytics related field.
  • Master’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Analytics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field and 5 years' experience in an analytics related field.
  • 9 years' experience in an analytics or related field.
  • 3 years' supervisory experience.
