About The Position

The AI Product's Data Science organization is central to Figma's next generation of products, covering areas like Make, Figma Agent, Design Systems, and more. Data plays a crucial role in setting strategy and measurement across these domains. This organization collaborates closely with AI Research and is a key driver of evaluation work and the future of product measurement at scale. The team is tasked with enhancing Figma's data utilization by working with other Data Scientists and Engineers to implement and democratize new statistical methods, build data frameworks, and integrate data into Figma's product development lifecycle. This team supports the company's objectives by partnering with product managers, engineers, and the finance team to identify new opportunities, pinpoint inefficiencies, and suggest improvements through data-driven insights. As Director, you will lead a team of data scientists and managers, establishing the vision for how data will inform strategy across Figma's AI products. You will collaborate closely with leadership in Product, Engineering, Design, and Research to integrate data-driven decision-making and modern AI product measurement into the product development process.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience managing and leading high output Data Science teams, with at least 2 years managing other managers
  • 7+ years of experience working in AI, Data Science, or a related field
  • Proven experience building or measuring AI products, ideally LLM-powered assistants, agents, chatbots, or copilots
  • Demonstrated expertise in statistical methods, experimentation, and/or forecasting, with the technical curiosity to learn and grow alongside your team
  • Ability to scale teams in high-growth environments, with a desire to build an inclusive and diverse culture

Responsibilities

  • Lead, support, and grow a team of data scientists and data science managers with varied strengths and expertise focused on product strategy, internal tooling, and Impact measurement
  • Champion data quality, accessibility, and the democratization of data across the company
  • Establish trust within and across teams by creating accountability and a positive work environment in partnership with other leaders in the organization
  • Partner with Product, Engineering, Design, Research, Sales, Marketing, or Finance to drive impact
  • Shape how we measure AI products: evals, quality, and experimentation for LLM-powered assistants and agents in partnership with AI Research
