About The Position

The Senior Director, Corporate Communications & Media Relations is responsible for shaping and protecting the company’s reputation across external and internal audiences. Reporting to the Chief Marketing Officer, this leader will develop and execute an integrated communications strategy that elevates the corporate brand, supports commercial growth, strengthens employee engagement, and positions the company as the global leader in diabetes technology. This role requires an experienced communications executive who can seamlessly move between executive strategy, product communications, crisis management, corporate storytelling, and hands-on media engagement. The ideal candidate combines exceptional strategic judgment with flawless execution and thrives in a fast-paced, highly regulated healthcare environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field and 15+ years of progressive communications experience, including significant experience in healthcare, medical technology, pharmaceuticals, or other highly regulated industries.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive corporate communications strategy aligned with business priorities.
  • Build and protect the company’s reputation among patients, healthcare professionals, investors, employees, policymakers, and industry influencers.
  • Partner closely with executive leadership to shape key corporate narratives and messaging.
  • Develop executive thought leadership platforms, speaking opportunities, bylined articles, and strategic communications.
  • Lead communications for significant corporate milestones, business announcements, partnerships, and strategic initiatives.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with top-tier business, healthcare, technology, and consumer media.
  • Develop proactive media strategies that generate high-impact earned media coverage.
  • Serve as the company’s communications lead for media inquiries and interview preparation.
  • Anticipate emerging issues and develop communications strategies that protect and enhance the company’s reputation.
  • Measure media impact and continuously optimize communications programs.
  • Lead integrated public relations strategies for product launches, regulatory milestones, clinical data announcements, partnerships, and innovation storytelling.
  • Collaborate closely with Product Marketing, Commercial, Medical Affairs, Clinical, and Regulatory teams to ensure accurate, compelling communications.
  • Translate complex scientific and technical information into engaging stories for multiple audiences.
  • Support global communications planning across key markets.
  • Develop internal communications strategies that keep employees informed, inspired, and connected to company priorities.
  • Create executive communications for town halls, organizational announcements, and major company initiatives.
  • Partner with HR and leadership to strengthen employee engagement and reinforce company culture.
  • Lead communications supporting organizational change and transformation initiatives.
  • Develop crisis communications plans, messaging frameworks, and response protocols.
