About The Position

As the Senior Director, Merchandising Acceleration, you’ll lead strategic monetization initiatives that expand how Walmart serves customers and drives incremental revenue across Walmart US's Entertainment, Toys and Seasonal division. This role sits at the intersection of merchandising and ecosystem growth, building new capabilities that directly supports Walmart’s strategic pillar of new revenue streams. This is a highly visible role on the newly formed Merchandising Acceleration team. Designed for a builder and intrapreneur, this role offers the opportunity to connect the dots across the enterprise and build new capabilities that help shape the future of merchandising. The Merchandising Acceleration team leads strategic initiatives to enhance Walmart US’s Entertainment, Toys, and Seasonal division. This team integrates merchandising, digital innovation, and ecosystem growth to build new capabilities that support Walmart’s strategic goals for revenue expansion. This high-impact group fosters continuous improvement and innovation, shaping the future of merchandising and contributing significantly to Walmart’s long-term success.

Requirements

  • Experience in digital acceleration, merchandising strategy, digital products and services, or business transformation.
  • Demonstrated success leading complex, cross-functional initiatives within a large or highly matrixed organization.
  • Strong strategic and commercial judgment, with the ability to connect customer needs to measurable growth opportunities.
  • Experience translating strategy into business requirements and scalable solutions.
  • The ability to influence leaders and align teams across different functions and priorities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and executive communication skills.
  • A customer-first mindset, comfort with ambiguity, and a track record of building and scaling new capabilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Statistics, Social Science, Communications, or related field and 6 years’ experience in retail merchandising, operations management, or related area OR 8 years’ experience in retail merchandising, operations management, or related area.
  • 2 years’ supervisory experience

Responsibilities

  • Identify customer and business opportunities and translate them into clear strategies, business cases, and roadmaps.
  • Develop scalable omni experiences for monetization programs that bring together products, digital content, services, and broader enterprise capabilities.
  • Partner with merchandising, eCommerce, product, technology, marketing, finance, analytics, and other teams to align priorities and deliver results.
  • Define and track key performance metrics to measure progress and communicate results to senior leadership and stakeholders.
  • Oversee transformational change initiatives, ensuring effective project management from pilot to full execution.
