About The Position

The Senior Director, Enterprise Data Platforms & Governance is a technical and strategic leader responsible for anchoring the AI-ready data mission. The role transitions the organization from a capability-centric model to a unified foundation focused on a common enterprise data platform, data governance, and AI-readiness. The position oversees a global organization of approximately 170 technologists to deliver a unified data foundation and enable a transition from systems of intelligence to unified systems of action, including Agentic AI. It directs the planning and implementation of technology systems that create value and support business operations, while building effective working relationships with cross-functional partners. The role is part of Corporate Engineering, which builds and maintains the enterprise infrastructure that powers Google. Corporate Engineering designs, builds, secures, and operates systems and tools to provide Googlers with reliable, secure, and scalable infrastructure and end-to-end technology solutions.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
18 years of experience in technology and corporate engineering.
15 years of management experience in enterprise internal systems.
Experience managing global cross-functional teams or projects and influencing senior-level management and key stakeholders.
International experience working and influencing across geographic and functional boundaries.
Experience in a unified data management platform, master data management, data governance, and semantic data modeling.

Responsibilities

Establish a unified enterprise data platform as the single source of truth across domains, ensuring data is connected, trusted, and discoverable.
Drive AI-readiness for enterprise data through enterprise data governance initiatives and adopt a data mesh approach with self-service capabilities.
Drive platform maturity and enforce Corporate Engineering standards across multiple data domains.
Achieve enterprise master data excellence.
Drive internal adoption of products and develop a case study for external customers.
Implement a forward-deployment model to operationalize data governance and accelerate adoption of the enterprise data platform.
Serve as a creative and innovative technology leader.
Build and maintain relationships with senior executives to understand business needs.
Build and grow a high-performing global organization.
Direct the planning and implementation of technology systems to drive value creation and support business operations.
Forge successful working relationships with cross-functional partners.
