About The Position

Adyen is seeking a senior designer who is equally at home in a strategic brief and a craft critique. This San Francisco-based role is for someone who thrives on complexity — turning product features, campaign goals, and business priorities into intuitive, high-impact visuals anchored in Adyen's brand. You'll collaborate closely with stakeholders, manage projects with rigor, and produce work that doesn't just look great but moves the business forward. You bring broad design experience across multiple disciplines, a clear specialization, and the organizational skills to lead projects from brief to delivery without missing a beat.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of professional design experience, whether in-house, freelance, or agency.
  • A strong portfolio showcasing high-craft work with measurable impact across digital and print.
  • High proficiency in Adobe CC, Figma, and Framer, with a working knowledge of AI tools to enhance creative ideation and production efficiency.
  • Experience managing and directing external agencies and freelancers.
  • A collaborative approach and team-first mentality, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • The drive to self-start, own projects end-to-end, and deliver against deadlines — while staying open to iteration and feedback.
  • Full professional proficiency in English, written and verbal.
  • Flexibility for occasional domestic and international travel.

Responsibilities

  • Develop high-quality brand concepts across multiple formats, ensuring consistency with Adyen's brand guidelines and strategic goals.
  • Strategically elevate Adyen's visual identity across platforms, ensuring a cohesive and impactful presence.
  • Bring a strong point of view to concept development, with meticulous attention to craft — from typography and layout to final execution.
  • Use visual storytelling to create designs that resonate with audiences and communicate Adyen's brand narrative with clarity and impact.
  • Present and advocate for creative decisions with stakeholders, clearly communicating design rationale and strategy to build alignment.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate brand strategy, business objectives, and consumer insights into effective creative solutions.
  • Manage and direct freelancers and creative agencies, providing clear creative briefs, feedback, and oversight to ensure quality and consistency across deliverables.
  • Proactively identify and address challenges throughout the project lifecycle, providing clear guidance and updates to keep teams aligned and on track.
  • Lead the end-to-end creative execution of events, from concept development and environmental design to on-site production, ensuring a cohesive and elevated brand experience.

Benefits

  • The base salary range for this role is $165,000-$195,000
