About The Position

Great Minds is hiring a multidisciplinary designer to work at the intersection of visual design, design systems, and technical implementation. The role bridges established template-based workflows with CMS-driven publishing models, translating creative direction into flexible, reusable systems for print and digital environments. The specialist will create polished design solutions and build the templates, components, patterns, and structured systems needed to implement them consistently across platforms. Working across Figma, InDesign, PowerPoint, and CMS platforms, the specialist will partner with designers, template designers, digital teams, and cross-functional colleagues to turn visual concepts into accessible, reusable, production-ready experiences. The role also helps the Design & Brand team develop practices for carrying design thinking from static templates into dynamic, component-based environments as tools and workflows evolve.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of professional experience in graphic design, digital design, production design, design systems, publishing design, or a related discipline, including work across design and technical implementation.
  • A portfolio or work samples demonstrating advanced visual design skills and the ability to translate design systems into functional, reusable templates, components, or digital experiences; candidates should be prepared to discuss design decisions and technical implementation.
  • Extensive proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, PowerPoint, and related design tools.
  • Experience with CMS-based digital workflows and working in an evolving digital environment, including learning to create and manage design components within a CMS-based workflow.
  • Strong collaboration, communication, organization, and time-management skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with creative and technical partners.
  • Intellectual curiosity, attention to detail, and willingness to learn new software, platforms, and approaches.
  • Strong understanding of design systems, including reusable components, styles, variables, patterns, libraries, and documentation.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent related education and/or professional experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Working knowledge of HTML/CSS.
  • Experience with educational publishing, complex content, or large-scale content production.
  • Experience with scripting, structured content, or AI-assisted production tools.

Responsibilities

  • Translate creative direction and established visual designs into scalable templates, reusable components, styles, patterns, libraries, and documentation for consistent print and digital products and platforms.
  • Apply typography, layout, hierarchy, color, and information-design principles to static and dynamic design solutions.
  • Partner with Design Leads and Design and Template Specialist colleagues to preserve creative intent as designs move from prototypes into structured production systems.
  • Create, revise, and maintain sophisticated templates and production systems in Figma, InDesign, PowerPoint, and other relevant platforms.
  • Support consistency between print and digital expressions of content while accounting for the requirements of each medium.
  • Bridge print design and template workflows with CMS-based publishing.
  • Translate Figma and other design prototypes into specifications, components, and patterns for implementation in CMS environments.
  • Develop flexible, scalable, and maintainable design solutions within CMS platform capabilities and constraints.
  • Collaborate with Digital, Product Management, Content & Editorial, and other cross-functional partners to align design requirements with platform capabilities.
  • Participate in testing and refining CMS components to ensure designs meet visual, functional, and accessibility expectations.
  • Create documentation, specifications, and usage guidance for designers, production teams, vendors, and cross-functional partners.
  • Apply accessibility requirements, including color contrast, typography, reading order, semantic structure, and alternative-text considerations, as appropriate to each platform.
  • Share technical knowledge and emerging best practices with the Design & Brand team.
  • Guide designers as workflows shift from page- and template-based thinking toward component- and system-based design.
  • Contribute to a Design & Brand culture that values experimentation, learning, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement.
