Requirements

  • Working knowledge of the tax process, laws governing tax collection, and general office maintenance.
  • Strong mathematical abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Effective supervisory skills.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records.
  • Ability to operate various office equipment.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Graduation from senior high school or equivalent with course background in bookkeeping, accounting or some other related field.
  • One (1) year of specialized training in computer operation and data entry.
  • Three (3) years of experience performing above or related duties.
  • Considerable knowledge of basic practices and methods of bookkeeping and accounting.
  • Considerable knowledge of specialized software for documenting and processing financial activity.
  • Considerable knowledge of functions and responsibilities of the office of County Treasurer.
  • Considerable knowledge of interrelationships of the various county offices.
  • Considerable knowledge of the tax process and related charges and fines.
  • Considerable knowledge of terminal operation data entry and processes related to Treasurer's office.
  • Considerable knowledge of the laws and regulations governing tax collection and disbursements in the county.
  • Considerable knowledge of general office maintenance (i.e. Record keeping, filing, indexing etc.).
  • Working knowledge of basic principles of supervision.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical functions quickly and accurately.
  • Ability to understand financial terminology.
  • Ability to read and understand county legal documents.
  • Ability to operate a variety of types of office equipment such as personal computer, adding machine calculator, typewriter etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to write clearly and legibly.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with supervisors' fellow employees and the public.
  • Highly proficient keyboard and 10-Key skills.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to pass drug/alcohol testing and a pre-employment background check.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in a variety of advanced technical tasks integral to the efficient collection, recording, and balancing of county tax revenues.
  • Support essential department functions, including receiving tax payments, posting transactions, and balancing revenues for taxing districts.
  • Respond to public inquiries regarding taxation and assist in preparing tax notices.
  • In the Chief Deputy Treasurer's absence, manage daily operations, oversee deputy treasurers, and review employee performance.
  • Prepare financial reports, conduct audits, and maintain internal controls for county funds.
  • Facilitate communication about tax processes and ensure compliance with county policies.
  • Enhance public understanding and contribute to the financial integrity of Bonneville County.
  • Promote operational excellence within the Treasurer's Office.
