About The Position

As a Senior Demand Planner at Smartwool, you will own the rolling demand forecast for a strategic wholesale business. You will translate historical trends, customer signals, and cross-functional commercial inputs into an accurate, consensus forecast that drives supply, inventory, and financial outcomes. This role leads monthly demand alignment, improves forecast accuracy through analytics and disciplined forecasting practices, and partners closely with Supply Planning to support strong in-stock performance while balancing inventory risk and capacity constraints.

Requirements

  • Strong Excel skills required.
  • Knowledge of Logility or other forecasting systems.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications including PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills; strong ability to influence.
  • Proven ability to apply industry Best Practices and “think outside the box.
  • Self-directed and able to work independently.
  • 3+ years of related professional experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from four-year college or university - preferred concentration in Supply Chain or Business Management.
  • Exposure to Supply Planning Systems (i2, SAP, BRIO, Business Objects, PowerBI) a plus.
  • Professional certification from IBF and/or APICS preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain an accurate rolling wholesale demand plan for Apparel & Accessories using statistical forecasting tools, shipment/order history, account forecasts, and inputs from Sales, Merchandising, Marketing, and Finance.
  • Lead and facilitate monthly cross-functional demand reviews to drive alignment on assumptions, opportunities/risks, and a final consensus forecast.
  • Own forecast performance within the forecasting system by applying lifecycle planning, trend/seasonality analysis, exception-based forecasting, and continuous model tuning.
  • Measure, report, and improve forecast accuracy and bias; conduct root-cause analysis of variance to actuals and implement corrective actions to improve performance over time.
  • Deliver clear forecast insights and actionable recommendations to stakeholders at all levels through dashboards, written summaries, and presentations (e.g., category/channel outlook, key drivers, risks, and mitigation plans).
  • Partner closely with Supply Planning to translate demand into supply and buy strategies that balance capacity constraints, lead times, and inventory targets while protecting in-stock and customer service.
  • Drive cross-functional process improvement initiatives that strengthen demand planning rigor, increase forecast adoption, and improve service levels and inventory health.
