About The Position

The Senior Database Engineer will serve as a database engineering voice on a mission-critical, geographically distributed system supporting the Intelligence Community, where interface, performance, and security tolerances are tight. The role owns relational and non-relational data architecture, including design, implementation, and documentation, and engineers data movement, replication, concurrent access, failover, and high availability across distributed nodes. The engineer performs performance tuning, capacity and performance planning, and investigation and resolution of issues. Responsibilities also include backup and recovery, user administration, schema translation using ad hoc queries, scripts, and macros, and analysis of requirements, risks, and alternatives for system-level problems. The role addresses both long- and short-term database administration and design requirements. Embedded in an Agile team, the engineer interfaces with systems, software, test, and information assurance engineers; contributes to Program Increment Planning; and collaborates daily with technical peers and customer points of contact. Some travel to Maryland for quarterly planning may be required if not local.
