Fruition Executive Search•Annapolis Junction, MD

About The Position

The environment is a mission-critical, geographically distributed system serving the Intelligence Community, where interface, performance, and security tolerances are tight and non-negotiable. The role involves being a database engineering voice on a complex program, not just a ticket-taker. The position requires ownership of relational and non-relational data architecture, including design, build, and documentation. Responsibilities include managing data movement at scale, such as replication across distributed nodes, concurrent access, and failover/high-availability engineering. Performance tuning, capacity and performance planning, and issue investigation through resolution are key aspects. The role also covers backup, recovery, and user administration, as well as schema translation to turn requirements and raw data into usable structures via ad hoc queries, scripts, and macros. Additionally, it involves requirements analysis, risk assessment, and alternatives analysis for system-level problems, and defining long- and short-term database requirements for administration and design.
