About The Position

The Senior Data Governance Analyst supports enterprise data governance by working directly with data, business stakeholders, data owners, and data stewards to improve metadata, lineage, data quality, ownership, and governance processes. The work is similar to the Lead Analyst role, with the Senior Analyst expected to operate independently on governance issues and use prior experience to provide meaningful input as the team evaluates and matures its processes.

Requirements

  • 4-7 years of experience in data governance, data management, or related work.
  • Experience contributing to data governance programs.
  • SQL knowledge and the ability to work directly with data.
  • Experience with metadata and lineage.
  • Knowledge of data quality and governance processes.
  • Working knowledge of regulatory and privacy frameworks such as CCPA, ERISA, FINRA, and SEC requirements.
  • Ability to work directly with business partners, data owners, and data stewards.
  • Ability to independently investigate data governance and ownership issues and coordinate the appropriate stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Support execution of enterprise data governance processes and standards.
  • Maintain and improve metadata and lineage for governed data.
  • Work directly with data to understand its meaning and identify anomalies or areas requiring stronger governance.
  • Support data quality processes and issue resolution.
  • Work with data owners and data stewards to clarify ownership and stewardship responsibilities.
  • Independently coordinate with stakeholders when ownership or governance issues need to be resolved.
  • Support stewardship meetings and help data owners and stewards understand their responsibilities.
  • Apply governance processes to improve the reliability and consistency of data and reporting.
  • Participate in working groups and projects where data governance involvement is needed.
  • Provide input based on prior experience to help improve and mature governance processes.
