About The Position

The Stony Brook University Advancement Analyst, Data Governance will support Advancements and the Data Services department's mission by working collaboratively with the business areas to establish and maintain standards for data usage and database security. The Analyst, Data Governance will be responsible for implementing, documenting, and communicating all data processes and business rules. Developing specific training programs for each area of Advancement on system functionality and data usage. Providing user access, establishing and documenting all security roles for multiple Fundraising systems. They will partner closely with all the different departments within Advancement to support Stony Brook University Advancement's goals. Plan, execute, manage and monitor Data Services projects, ensuring timely and accurate completion while proactively communicating updates to the team. Projects will include but not limited to: Conducting data quality analysis, identifying potential issues, and implementing resolution strategies Providing metrics on data usage and quality Develop and document procedures and policies to ensure proper data usage and quality Strengthen relationships with internal and external stakeholders, Advancement teams, and other Stony Brook University departments through regular communication and collaboration. Facilitate and attend regular meetings and events to enhance relationships, ensure mutual success, and achieve Advancement's goals. Develop and edit communications for Data Services that are clear, concise, and aligned with Advancements objectives. Work on presentations, reports, and other internal and external materials to effectively convey complex information compellingly. Provide support to Data Services, creating efficiency and organization across administrative tasks. Assist with scheduling, correspondence, and document management to ensure smooth daily operations. Seek opportunities for growth and learning to improve personal and team performance and contribute to the success of the organization. Share insights and best practices, and foster a culture of continuous learning within the team. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher).
  • Two (2) years of full-time work experience.
  • Experience working with data management and organization, data quality analysis, application software, and/or database applications.
  • Familiarity with query tools and data management technologies.

Nice To Haves

  • At least one year of experience working with data management and organization, data quality analysis, application software, and/or database applications.
  • Experience working in higher education, a large non-profit, a complex healthcare system and/or related environment.
  • Experience in training end users on system applications.
  • Proven experience in data management and system applications.
  • Strong background in data analysis and query, data cleansing, and data exchange.
  • Experience with CRM, Fundraising or Email Marketing software systems.
  • Experience in Advancement.
