About The Position

The Senior Data Analyst is a senior-level individual contributor on the UT Data Core team, supporting the Department of Women’s Health. The role leads complex analytics initiatives that inform strategic decisions across clinical, operational, and financial domains, partnering with departmental leadership, clinical program directors, faculty, staff, and cross-functional teams. The analyst serves as a subject matter expert in healthcare data, advanced analytics, and data visualization. The position extracts, integrates, analyzes, and interprets information from electronic health records and other clinical and operational sources, using Viewpoint and relevant data systems and reporting tools to fulfill complex requests and support clinical, research, operational, and strategic initiatives. The role also provides stakeholder consultation, mentorship, documentation, and leadership in analytics practices. It contributes to strategic planning, digital transformation, grant-funded research, academic collaborations, and scholarly activity.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Public Health, Health Information Management, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
At least 5 years of experience in healthcare analytics or data science; relevant education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
Skill in large-scale data analysis, data processing, and data technology.
Skill with one or more industry data models and standards, such as OMOP, FHIR, or DICOM.
Experience with advanced analytics tools, data visualization, and cloud data environments such as Azure, Google, or AWS.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in a quantitative or healthcare-related field and at least 7 years of experience in a complex healthcare environment.
Cloud Data Analytics Certification or equivalent cloud-based certification, such as Azure, Google, or AWS.

Responsibilities

Analyze data using statistical tools and methods, interpret results, and identify significant differences and trends.
Lead the design and execution of advanced statistical models and predictive analytics.
Translate complex business problems into analytical frameworks and synthesize large datasets to uncover actionable insights.
Present findings to senior leadership and governance committees.
Develop and maintain dashboards and scorecards; standardize KPIs and reporting methods across departments.
Automate enterprise-level reporting and ensure visualizations are accurate, intuitive, and aligned with strategic goals.
Collaborate with IT to optimize reporting infrastructure.
Develop databases, data collection systems, and analytics strategies that improve statistical efficiency and data quality.
Lead integration of EHR, claims, financial, and operational data sources.
Help define and implement data standards and data quality measures.
Create and maintain operational and research data models for visualization and statistical analysis.
Establish and maintain standard work procedures for appropriate data use.
Advise clinical and administrative leaders and consult with customers to identify needs and clarify data requirements.
Provide guidance on complex systems and data, facilitate data strategy sessions and requirements workshops, and build consensus around data definitions and use.
Mentor junior and mid-level analysts in technical and professional development.
Document analysis work, including sources, reporting specifications, tools, and issue resolutions.
Evaluate and pilot analytics tools and methodologies; stay current on technologies and data analysis trends.
Lead analytics communities of practice and training sessions and contribute to scholarly activity.
Participate in strategic planning and digital transformation initiatives; support grant-funded research and academic collaborations.
Represent the organization at industry conferences and professional forums.
Lead post-implementation analytics project reviews and contribute to vendor evaluations and procurement.
