About The Position

This role involves preparing and transmitting various types of import entries and shipments, reviewing import documentation, and ensuring accuracy in HTS classification, duty calculation, valuation, and origin. A key part of the role is processing FDA entries, troubleshooting rejections and holds, and coordinating with importers and internal teams for resolution. The position also requires leading responses to CBP holds and exams, managing timelines, and communicating risks to clients and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • 4+ years U.S. import entry writing experience in a customs brokerage environment.
  • Strong knowledge of CBP entry fundamentals (clearance procedure, classification basics, valuation/origin, documentation, compliance controls).
  • Strong FDA filing experience (hands-on transmitting and troubleshooting).
  • Demonstrated ability to research and implement tariff and regulatory updates into daily operations.
  • Proficiency with the ABI system (NetCHB preferred).
  • Comfortable working with Google Workspace and Microsoft 365 (Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.).
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer-service mindset.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  • 60 WPM typing speed.

Nice To Haves

  • In-bond filing experience and/or FTZ (214/06/weekly entry).
  • AD/CVD awareness (ability to flag risk and escalate scope questions appropriately).
  • Shipment refusal (re-exportation or destruction).
  • Interpret new tariff announcements and operational guidance (e.g., CSMS, official notices).

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and transmit various types of import entries (primarily Type 01/03/06, plus other assigned entry types) and shipments (ocean, air, rail, and truck).
  • Review and coordinate import documentation (commercial invoices, bills of lading, packing lists, certificates of origin, and PGA requirements).
  • Ensure accurate HTS, duty calculation, valuation, origin, MID/party data, and document sufficiency.
  • Apply tariff programs correctly (e.g., Section 301/232/IEEPA) and identify when escalation is required.
  • Process FDA entries from intake to release: confirm correct PGA message sets, product codes/affirmations (as applicable), intended use, and supporting documents.
  • Troubleshoot FDA and PGA rejects, holds, and documentation requests; coordinate with importers and internal teams to resolve issues quickly.
  • Handle FDA destructions, re-labeling, sampling, and follow-up on importer lab testing.
  • Lead responses to CBP document/cargo holds, exams, and requests (e.g., CF28/CF29 support as assigned).
  • Proactively manage timelines and communicate requirements and risk to clients/internal stakeholders.
