About The Position

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Circuit 11-C Coconut Grove. The mission of a Senior Criminal Justice Information Technician at the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to oversee and ensure the accuracy, integrity, and timely processing of criminal justice information. This role involves supervising and guiding junior technicians, managing complex data entry and retrieval tasks, and ensuring compliance with departmental policies and procedures. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

Requirements

  • Two years of secretarial or clerical work experience.
  • College education from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours for each year of the required work experience.
  • Vocational/technical training in an area of secretarial or office/business studies can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours for each year of the required work experience.
  • A high school diploma or its equivalent can substitute for one year of the required work experience.
  • Must pass a Level 2 background check.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or authorized to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

  • Enter and interpret statistical, financial, and technical data into computer systems.
  • Review and update offender records, using standardized codes and making necessary corrections.
  • Send and receive critical information and messages through various information centers and provide explanations to non-equipment users.
  • Respond to inquiries from authorized personnel about information systems, ensuring compliance with criminal justice standards.
  • Safeguard confidential information, maintain dissemination records, complete validation reports, and perform routine maintenance on office equipment.
