About The Position

Oxy is seeking an experienced and motivated Senior Counsel for its Legal Department's Exploration & Production Services group, based in Houston, Texas. The role supports onshore exploration, production, and operations activities in Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado. The Senior Counsel provides legal and commercial advice on contracting and other operational matters, working with business units and internal stakeholders to support compliance with company policies and procedures.

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association.
• Licensed to practice law in the State of Texas.
• Six or more years as a licensed attorney.
• Four or more years of experience in the oil and gas industry.
• Extensive experience handling a wide variety of onshore procurement agreements, including drilling, master service, and construction contracts.
• Proactive approach to providing commercial-minded advice and guidance to a variety of business units.
• Ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and a collaborative work style.

Responsibilities

• Draft, negotiate, interpret, and advise clients on drilling, oilfield services, construction, and procurement agreements supporting onshore exploration, production, and operations activities in Texas, New Mexico, and Colorado.
• Advise clients on commercial matters, including contract interpretations and contractor disputes.
• Coordinate with internal stakeholder groups, including Risk Management, Credit, HSE, Regulatory, and Audit, to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures in relevant procurement contracts.
• Research legal issues related to company operations and assess their impact on the company's contracting strategy for onshore goods and services.
