About The Position

Tyson & Mendes is seeking an experienced Senior Counsel to join its Los Angeles Medical Malpractice team. The role is suited to a seasoned litigator who can take ownership of sophisticated matters, exercise independent judgment, work directly with clients and carriers, and move cases forward. The practice includes medical malpractice, professional liability, healthcare litigation, complex insurance defense, elder abuse, wrongful death, personal injury, and general liability matters involving healthcare professionals and organizations. The Senior Counsel will work alongside Partner Mark Kiefer, whose practice focuses on healthcare and medical and professional malpractice. The Los Angeles practice operates primarily remotely, with attorneys coming together as required for court appearances, depositions, trial preparation, and client needs. The role offers autonomy, flexibility, substantive litigation work, and the opportunity to provide leadership and direction to less experienced attorneys.

  • Licensed to practice in the State of California.
  • At least 8 years of solid litigation experience, specifically including litigation support, depositions, and trial preparation.

  • Ability to manage full case-handling responsibilities, including all facets of discovery and trial.
  • Experience with time-management systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to think and act independently with minimal supervision.
  • Outstanding listening, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Professional appearance and demeanor.

  • Cultivate relationships with the firm's existing and future clients.
  • Provide leadership and direction to less experienced attorneys.
  • Refuse to accept mediocrity, the average, the standard, or the norm in anything.
