This position is responsible for managing a wide variety of commercial litigation matters and advising in-house business clients on mitigating litigation risk and maximizing business recoveries in a strategic yet cost-effective manner. Candidates should be familiar with legal concepts, practices, and procedures applicable to U.S. civil and administrative cases and should be able to develop and implement plans to effectively manage all phases of commercial litigation, from pre-complaint counseling to dispositive motion practice to discovery, including electronic discovery, expert testimony, trial, and appeal. Candidates will be responsible for managing a docket consisting of a variety of commercial matters and, in addition to managing outside counsel, may also serve as attorney of record for the company where appropriate. When managing outside counsel, core expectations include the management and direction of outside counsel’s workstreams—as well as hands-on participation in those workstreams—to reduce legal spend and achieve business objectives. Candidates must be able to work collaboratively with other legal staff members and exhibit the competence and professionalism needed to earn the trust of members of the company’s management team. This Senior Counsel position will be part of the Global Litigation team in the Tyson Foods Law Department and will primarily focus on commercial litigation matters, including antitrust, bankruptcy, breach of contract, environmental, food labeling, securities, and tort claims. Experience with class actions, MDLs, and arbitrations is a positive.
