About The Position

Kent is looking for a Senior Cost Controller to support a portfolio group of projects in Baytown, TX. The Senior Cost Controller plays a critical role in delivering effective cost management, forecasting, and financial control across assigned projects. Working closely with the Project Manager, Construction, Planning, within the Project Controls team, this role ensures accurate cost reporting, budget control, and proactive identification of risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle. This position requires strong technical capability, attention to detail, and the ability to operate independently within established Project Controls systems and governance frameworks. This position will preferably be based at the site, with a shift schedule to be determined.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • 10+ years of experience in Cost Control or Project Controls within construction or EPC environments.
  • Strong understanding of cost control methodologies.
  • Strong understanding of forecasting and budgeting.
  • Strong understanding of earned value management (EVM).
  • Strong understanding of change management and cost trending.
  • Proficiency in cost management systems, Excel, and project reporting tools.
  • Proficiency in Power Bi.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Ability to clearly communicate cost performance, risks, and forecasts to project stakeholders.
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, multi-disciplinary project environments.
  • High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within project teams.
  • Demonstrates accountability, professionalism, and a continuous improvement mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and control project cost reports, forecasts, and budgets.
  • Support the establishment and maintenance of cost baselines in accordance with project execution plans.
  • Monitor cost performance and identify variances, trends, and potential risks or opportunities.
  • Provide timely cost input to project leadership to support decision-making.
  • Support earned value analysis (EVM) and progress measurement in collaboration with Planning.
  • Ensure accurate and consistent cost data is reflected across all reporting tools and systems.
  • Contribute to internal and client reporting requirements, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Support the tracking and evaluation of project changes, variations, and trends.
  • Support risk identification and mitigation planning from a cost perspective.
  • Maintain cost control systems in line with corporate and project requirements.
  • Support audits, internal reviews, and governance processes as required.
  • Interface with engineering, procurement, and construction teams to ensure integrated cost control.
  • Build and maintain Power BI cost environment.
  • Perform other ad-hoc tasks as needed or directed by the supervisor or management, within the reasonable scope of the employee's skills, capabilities, and role.
