The Senior Cost Accountant is responsible for providing reviews and analysis of project costs and budgets with Division Managers to ensure reasonable presentation in company financials. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Accounting or other related discipline
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in financial management and general accounting, or equivalent combinations of training and experience
  • Thorough knowledge of standard accounting procedures, Company policies and all relevant Federal, State and local requirements
  • Advanced professional level requiring the incumbent to handle a variety of difficult and unique problems
  • Ability to understand and follow standard operating policies and procedures
  • Ability to perform duties in a professional manner
  • Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.); Oracle preferred
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, changing priorities as necessary
  • Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude
  • Effective oral and written communication skills as required for the position
  • Ability to be self-motivated, proactive and an effective team player
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with all levels of employees, both management and staff alike, vendors, clients, and others

Responsibilities

  • Determine risk factors and present findings to Finance Management
  • Mentor and train junior members of the Cost Accounting Dept.
  • Review, analyze and prepare company revenue forecasts for distribution to executive management
  • Support development of current systems and policies/procedures (Oracle PM tools, finance forms, etc.)
  • Assist in the development, implementation and/or maintenance of cost accounting systems related to collection and analysis of job costs and/or budgets.
  • Prepare subsidiary accounting and financial documents for divisions including CACs, backlog, invalid time reports and budgets.
  • Prepare various cost/statistical reports for corporate management as required/requested.
  • Prepare financial data for inclusion in bid proposals, and other similar packages.
  • Perform internal audits
  • Assist Project Management in resolution of costing issues
  • Travel to regional offices to support operations, conduct month-end reviews, and train operations staff on finance procedures and systems.
