About The Position

The Senior Corporate Accounting Manager reports to the Assistant Vice President of Accounting and is responsible for assisting in managing and overseeing the daily operations for the corporate accounting team of the accounting department, which includes the supervision of staff accountants and off-site consultants, monitoring and analyzing accounting data, reviewing financial reports or statements for accuracy. The Senior Corporate Accounting Manager will assist in enforcing proper accounting methods, policies and procedures as well as training direct reports.

Requirements

  • Proven abilities to handle multi-tasking responsibilities, while handling the demands of multiple staff members.

  • Have Bachelor’s degree in accounting or higher.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Have a minimum of 7 years accounting experience.
  • Have some real estate accounting or corporate accounting background.
  • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
  • Principles, practices and techniques of organization, supervision, employee motivation and training.

  • Yardi Systems experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the supervision of staff accountants, outsourced personnel, and off-site consultants.
  • Coordinate training, as needed, related to software, hardware, and accounting processes supporting corporate operations.
  • Oversee intercompany transactions among corporate entities and subsidiaries.
  • Oversee various corporate cost allocations across properties and corporate departments.
  • Manage the accounting for various corporate lines of business.
  • Assist in the preparation and updating of audit schedules and provide support during interim and year-end audits.
  • Ensure month-end and year-end close processes, as well as reporting packages for assigned entities, are completed accurately and on a timely basis.
  • Assist with the review and approval of annual draft and final tax returns.
  • Assist with the review and approval of annual draft and final audited financial statements.
  • Prepare special reports and/or billings required by management or third-party entities.
  • Develop a strong understanding of agreements with third parties, including related financial and compliance requirements and applicable deadlines.
  • Review and approve journal entries to ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with current policies and procedures.
  • Maintain strong working relationships and collaborate with various departments on financial and operational matters.
  • Assist, as needed, in training site personnel on the proper recording of financial transactions and data.
  • Participate in all company-required educational, training, and team-building activities.
  • Adhere to the work schedule established by the company to support efficient operations.
  • Attend company-sponsored events related to team development, which may occasionally include overnight travel away from the employee’s home.
  • Develop, maintain, and revise accounting policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls.
  • Recognize that the accounting workload is cyclical and may require increased effort during month-end close, quarter-end reporting, and audit and tax periods.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
