About The Position

Retool is growing rapidly and entering a new stage of maturity. To enable this growth and help Retool scale to the next level, we’re looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Senior Corporate Accountant to support a wide breadth of our accounting operations. This role is the backbone of our day-to-day general ledger accounting. You’ll own core month-end close workstreams and serve as the go-to person for our procure-to-pay processes. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, including experience at a high-growth startup and/or public accounting firm
  • Strong experience with U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • Curiosity about how automation and AI tools can improve accounting workflows
  • Sharp critical thinking skills with experience analyzing high volume, multi-currency transactions in a global business environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate cross-functionally to solve problems and achieve results
  • Highly detail-oriented with excellent time management, prioritization and organizational skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to follow through and implement process improvement
  • Fluent in Excel and Google Sheets, including pivot tables and advanced formulas used in data summarization and analysis

Nice To Haves

  • CPA certification a plus
  • Experience with Brex, NetSuite, Airbase, and Numeric preferred

Responsibilities

  • Drive the day-to-day general ledger accounting across multiple financial statement line items in accordance with U.S. GAAP
  • Participate in the month end close process, preparing journal entries and account reconciliations to deliver timely and accurate financial results
  • Perform monthly prepaid, fixed asset, allocation, accrual and ASC 842 lease accounting
  • Own AP, corporate credit cards, and employee reimbursements, partnering closely with stakeholders such as vendors and employees
  • Partner with internal spend owners and department heads to gather data, resolve issues, and support month-end close and AP workflows
  • Assist with external audits by preparing supporting schedules and documentation
  • Prepare monthly variance analysis, management reporting and U.S. GAAP reporting
  • Implement process improvements, including AI-enabled automation efforts, to streamline accounting operations and improve the quality of internal controls
  • Supervise and review the work of an overseas resource including AP bill processing, credit card reconciliations, expense reimbursement reviews, and bank reconciliations
  • Support special projects as needed, including the implementation and/or maintenance of new accounting systems and tools
