The Corporate Senior Accountant is responsible for all monthly accounting activities for SSR Mining’s US and Canadian corporate entities. This role will work closely with other departments at Corporate, such as Treasury, Tax, FP&A, and HR, to ensure all necessary monthly activity has been booked. In addition, this role will work with mine site accounting team members to record intercompany activity. The Corporate Senior Accountant will report to the Corporate Accounting Manager.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of progressive accounting experience with increasing levels of responsibility
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Strong knowledge of U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
  • Ability to manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven problem-solving, analytical, and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • CPA certification preferred
  • Public accounting (Big 4 preferred) and/or publicly traded company (SEC registrant) experience preferred
  • Mining industry experience is a plus
  • Experience with SEC reporting, SOX compliance, and internal controls preferred
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP and OneStream strongly preferred
  • Experience leading process improvement initiatives and mentoring junior accounting staff preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and record accrual and other month-end close journal entries for the Corporate entities, including intercompany entries to respective sites if applicable.
  • Prepare reconciliations and workpapers for several areas, including: cash and cash equivalents, marketable securities, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, intercompany accounts payable, accrued liabilities, and payroll and benefits
  • Work closely with Treasury & Tax to perform the accounting for intercompany loan activities
  • Assist with the preparation and review of the monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages, including the income statement, balance sheet, cash flow statement, and variance analyses.
  • Participate in strategic financial projects, including upgrades of SAP.
  • Ensure compliance with internal control policies in a SOX environment.
  • Assist external auditors to ensure successful audit results and compliance.
