Armanino’s Valuation and Forensics Practice assists start-ups, private and public companies, estates, attorneys, as well as venture capital and private equity firms with business valuation, tangible asset, and custom financial modeling services. Armanino’s valuation team has a track record of delivering industry leading expertise and value to clients across a wide range of industries and consulting assignments. We are looking to add to our wickedly smart team in one of the following locations: the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, or Irvine (California); Dallas or Austin (Texas); Seattle, (Washington); St. Louis (Missouri); Atlanta (Georgia); Chicago (Illinois); Philadelphia (Pennsylvania); New York (New York); or Denver (Colorado). As a Senior Consultant, you are the technical engine of an engagement. You will build and review the models, own the day-to-day client relationship, and produce work that is defensible in front of auditors, the IRS, and other reviewers. You will also begin coaching consultants and analysts, and you will have direct access to the directors and partners who lead the practice. This is a role for someone who wants to master complex valuation work and be on a clear path to Manager.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years progressively responsible valuations experience within a business valuation firm or valuation practice of an accounting or consulting firm
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, accounting, finance, statistics, mathematics, or engineering
  • Prior experience effectively resolving external review issues (auditors, IRS, etc.) is a plus
  • Relevant valuation designation(s) ASA, CFA, ABV, or CVA, or progress toward one or more of these
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills, with hands-on experience building and reviewing DCF, market approach, option pricing, and equity allocation models
  • Working knowledge of market data sources such as S&P Capital IQ, Bloomberg, PitchBook, or BVR
  • Strong report writing skills, with the ability to explain methodology, assumptions, and conclusions clearly and concisely
  • Proven ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously and deliver high-quality work on time and within scope and budget
  • Experience reviewing, coaching, and developing junior valuation professionals

Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver business valuation engagements for financial reporting (ASC 805, ASC 350/360, ASC 820, ASC 718), 409A and other tax compliance, gift and estate tax, management planning, litigation support, and M&A purposes.
  • Own the day-to-day execution of engagements from scoping and proposal support through final deliverable, keeping projects on budget and on schedule.
  • Build, populate, and review financial models, including discounted cash flow, guideline public company and guideline transaction analyses, the Option Pricing Method, PWERM, and Black-Scholes lattice models.
  • Identify, assess, and analyze comparable public/private companies and transactions to derive valuation multiples, using sources such as S&P Capital IQ, Bloomberg, PitchBook, and BVR.
  • Draft clear, well-supported narrative reports and memos that document the analysis and conclusions and withstand third-party scrutiny.
  • Train and guide analysts and review their work to ensure quality control, providing written and oral coaching.
  • Research and analyze market conditions and trends to develop valuation opinions.
  • Serve as the day-to-day client contact, leading data requests, management interviews, and status communications, and presenting findings to client stakeholders.
  • Perform audit reviews of valuations performed by other appraisers.
  • Respond to and resolve review comments from auditors, the IRS, and other external reviewers with well-documented support.
  • Contribute to the practice by enhancing template models, presenting internal training, and supporting thought leadership and recruiting efforts.
