Armanino’s Valuation and Forensics Practice assists start-ups, private and public companies, estates, attorneys, as well as venture capital and private equity firms with business valuation, real estate, and custom financial modeling services. Armanino’s valuation team has a track record of delivering industry leading expertise and value to clients across a wide range of industries and consulting assignments. We are looking to add to our wickedly smart team in the one of the following locations: the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, or Irvine (California); Dallas or Austin (Texas); Seattle, (Washington); St. Louis (Missouri); Atlanta (Georgia); Chicago (Illinois); Philadelphia (Pennsylvania); New York (New York); or Denver (Colorado). As a Manager in Armanino’s Valuation and Forensics Practice, you will own complex valuation engagements end to end — scoping, modeling, reviewing, and defending your conclusions with clients, auditors, and regulators. Managers are the day-to-day leaders on their engagements: technically deep enough to be the go-to resource on at least one valuation specialty, commercially minded enough to spot the next opportunity, and invested in developing the consultants and senior consultants who work alongside them.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business, accounting, finance, statistics, mathematics, or engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of valuation experience within a national business valuation firm or valuation practice of a major accounting or consulting firm
  • Prior experience effectively resolving external review questions (auditors, IRS, etc.)
  • Strong client communication skills
  • Exceptional report and memo writing skills, with the ability to translate complex analyses into clear, defensible narratives for clients, auditors, and courts
  • Demonstrated command of the income, market, and asset approaches and of the reporting requirements under ASC 805, ASC 350/360, ASC 718/409A, and ASC 820
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills, with working knowledge of market data sources such as S&P Capital IQ, Bloomberg, or equivalent
  • Relevant valuation designation(s) ASA, CFA, ABV, or CVA
  • Ability to develop external relationships (networking, referral sources, etc.) and the desire and ability to bring new clients into the business
  • Strong client management, consulting, communication, and leadership skills managing expectations and delivering high quality solutions on-time within scope and budget
  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent engagements and deadlines while owning engagement economics, including budgeting, billing, realization, and collections
  • Detail oriented, flexible, and responsive
  • Must adhere to Armaino’s 50% in-office requirement

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within a Big 4, national, or leading boutique valuation practice
  • Depth in one or more specialties, such as complex securities and share-based payments, purchase price allocations, gift and estate tax, real estate, or litigation support
  • Prior experience supporting audit reviews under US GAAP and/or IFRS
  • Demonstrated thought leadership through speaking engagements, publications, or professional association involvement

Responsibilities

  • Manage, review, and deliver valuation projects for the following purposes: financial reporting purposes (ASC 805/ASC 350), gift and estate tax, 409A/ASC 718, management planning, litigation support, and/or M&A
  • Manage and mentor staff and senior analysts by working hand in hand to answer questions from them on a regular basis
  • Review the work of consultants and senior consultants, provide written and verbal coaching, and serve as a performance coach to one or more team members
  • Work with directors and partners to prepare engagement letters for new projects
  • Build, review, and defend financial models across the income, market, and asset approaches, including discounted cash flow, guideline public company and transaction methods, multi-period excess earnings, relief-from-royalty, with-and-without, replacement cost, option pricing (Black-Scholes/OPM), and/or Monte Carlo simulation
  • Serve as the technical resource on assigned engagements, applying current AICPA, ASC, IRS, and USPAP guidance and documenting conclusions so they withstand auditor, PCAOB, and IRS scrutiny
  • Lead the resolution of external review questions, engaging directly with audit teams, valuation specialists, and client stakeholders to support assumptions and conclusions
  • Work with staff and senior analysts to ensure all projects in the pipeline are completed on budget and on time
  • Frequently communicate with key client contacts throughout the valuation process
  • Network internally to help grow the business
  • Identify out-of-scope and whitespace opportunities and introduce colleagues across Armanino’s tax, audit, transaction advisory, and forensics teams to your clients
  • Contribute to thought leadership, webinars, and market-facing materials that build the practice’s brand
  • Manage, key initiatives and metrics, including but not limited to metrics related to billing, utilization, and A/R
  • Contribute to model, template, and innovation efforts — including the responsible use of AI-enabled tools — to improve engagement quality and efficiency
