About The Position
WSP is currently initiating a search for a full-time Senior Consultant, Geotechnical Engineer! This position is open to our Orlando, FL office. Be involved in projects with our Transportation & Infrastructure Team and be a part of a growing organization that meets our client’s objectives and solves their challenges.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering, or closely related discipline.
- 5+ years of relevant post education experience in engineering and prior geotechnical design experience.
- Florida PE registration
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills combined with excellent analytical abilities, leadership ability, and a positive attitude
- Ability to work both independently and within groups
- Competence in the Microsoft Office suite of programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is necessary
- Proven experience in Florida area geotechnical practice and geology
- Proven experience with FDOT, Design Build projects, Transportation, and Dam/Levees
Nice To Haves
- Prior experience with Florida Geology and local market
- Master's degree in civil engineering with an emphasis in geotechnical engineering
- Transportation Experience as design or field/lab exploration and recommendations
- Familiarity with discipline-specific design software - GeoStudio (SLOPE/W, SEEP/W, SIGMA/W, &QUAKE), LPILE, GROUP , FBDEEP, MSEW, PLAXIS, DeepEX, CAD: AutoCAD, MicroStation
Responsibilities
- Assist with work plan preparation and coordination of field/site work and laboratory testing
- Prepare geotechnical data reports
- Prepare geotechnical calculations and conduct modeling, including slope stability, seepage and consolidation analyses
- Prepare geotechnical recommendations reports with senior review
- Assist with writing reports, cost estimating and permit documents
- Assist with the preparation of project design packages including technical drawings, specifications, project schedules, and cost estimates
- Willing to support field logging and/or field observation
