About The Position

The Senior Construction Crew Leader demonstrates full competency in all Construction Crew Leader tasks in both maintenance and construction. This role involves assisting Project Managers with planning, execution, and oversight of projects, communicating effectively in English, and utilizing smartphones and computers for reporting and documentation. The position requires conducting follow-ups and inspections across multiple crews and job sites, identifying landscape plants and annual color, leading safety meetings and training, and training new hires and Crew Leaders. Additionally, the Senior Construction Crew Leader will evaluate crew production, assist with hours budgeting, acquire and document materials, perform irrigation system walkthroughs, manage water usage, maintain client contact, troubleshoot pest issues, complete work order status reports, conduct vehicle inspections, submit material use reports and purchase orders, maintain tool inventory, complete various paperwork including bids and performance evaluations, and review timecards. Maintaining confidentiality is also a key aspect of this role.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in landscape construction and crew leadership
  • Strong leadership and team management skills
  • Advanced knowledge of irrigation systems, plant identification, and construction practices
  • Proficiency in smartphone and computer-based reporting tools
  • Ability to train and mentor team members and Crew Leaders
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Professional demeanor and appearance

  • Drivers operating an F150 vehicle must have a valid California Driver License and be authorized to drive by the company’s insurance.
  • Drivers operating a F350 vehicle or larger must have a valid California Driver License, be authorized to drive by the company’s insurance, and complete a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical examination.

Responsibilities

  • Lead safety meetings and training sessions for crews.
  • Train new hires and Crew Leaders in construction standards and procedures.
  • Evaluate crew production and assist with hours budgeting.
  • Acquire materials and ensure proper usage and documentation.
  • Perform irrigation system walkthroughs and manage water usage.
  • Maintain client contact and ensure satisfaction with project progress.
  • Troubleshoot pest issues and recommend treatment solutions.
  • Complete and submit work order status reports.
  • Conduct vehicle inspections and submit vehicle requests as needed.
  • Submit material use reports and purchase orders.
  • Maintain monthly tool inventory and ensure accountability.
  • Complete additional paperwork including bids, work orders, and performance evaluations.
  • Review and sign timecards for accurate time reporting.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of the role.
