About The Position

Southeastern Louisiana University's Office of Technology invites applications for the position of Senior Computer Support Specialist. The Senior Computer Support Specialist is a position that will provide first line/level technology support for university faculty, staff and students. This will be mainly through telephone support, but first line/level support will also be provided via email and in person. This includes support for university supported software systems, printers, wireless and university supported hardware and remote learning support. This position also works with second line/level support to resolve issues that have been escalated. This position also includes sharing knowledge with other computer support specialists to assist them in completing their job duties. The successful applicant must possess a valid Louisiana driver’s license and the ability to successfully complete the Southeastern Driver’s Safety course.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university by hire date.
  • Five years of progressively responsible, full-time experience in computer technical support.
  • Valid Louisiana driver’s license.
  • Ability to successfully complete the Southeastern Driver’s Safety course.

Nice To Haves

  • 6–7 years computer customer support experience, with at least 1–2 years performing lead or advanced support duties.
  • Experience using artificial intelligence (AI) tools to assist with technical troubleshooting, research, documentation, automation, or other IT support functions.
  • Advanced knowledge of computers and technology.
  • Extensive knowledge of PCs and related software, as well as Macintosh computers and related software.
  • Knowledge of the latest computer software and hardware products on the market, including but not limited to Windows 10, Windows 11, Google suite and the latest MS Office suite.
  • High level of knowledge in analyzing computer programs and operating systems.
  • Experience in HTML.
  • A+ certification.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first line/level technology support for university faculty, staff and students via telephone, email, and in person.
  • Support university-supported software systems, printers, wireless, and hardware.
  • Provide remote learning support.
  • Work with second line/level support to resolve escalated issues.
  • Share knowledge with other computer support specialists.
