SCOPE OF POSITION: Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Senior Supervisor of Compliance is responsible for overseeing all Compliance operations at DC57 South Surrey. This role involves close collaboration with Department Managers and manages one direct report, a Compliance Analyst.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education, preferably with an Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) Certificate.
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership/management experience in a distribution or warehouse environment.
  • Experience in Health and Safety or Compliance roles is an asset.
  • Adept at influencing stakeholders across all levels

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for monitoring, maintaining and implementation of all government agency requirements related to applicable laws for labour, health, safety, privacy and ethics
  • Actively participate in monitoring, maintaining and implementing all standard operating procedures, policies, guidelines and practices related to items outlined in national audits for compliance
  • Maintain comprehensive business records related to administrative requirements of all audits in accordance with the privacy act and business ethics model
  • Oversee and assist the operations team in developing and implementing training mechanisms to continuously improve audit results
  • Investigate, implement, support and sustain national compliance initiatives as required by LCL in accordance with national, regional and site specific objectives
  • Ensure necessary training is updated regularly and continuously maintained in accordance with the standard operating procedures and guidelines as described in our national objectives
  • Foster positive working relationships with federal and provincial auditors and/or inspectors through open communication and collaborative work efforts, as a representative of LCL’s high ethical standards, missions, values and behaviors
  • Manage, maintain, communicate and ensure timely reporting of all injury claims in the DC according to the rules and regulations of the Workers Compensation Board and LCL’s third party claims management company
  • Provide direction and meaningful work for colleagues who require modified work arrangements due to medical restrictions and ensure supervisors are actively participating/supervising accommodated return to work programs for all colleagues
  • Work in partnership with the operations team and the OHS business unit to ensure open communication of ongoing and active claims, incidents and injuries
  • Train, communicate, coach and effectively manage injury rates and medical reporting processes to safely return all employees to their pre-injury job and/or duties
  • Coordinate with the operations team to develop, implement, standardize, communicate, train, report and maintain national, regional or site specific standard operating practices required in the business unit
  • Correct and/or report deficient standard operating practices as outlined in the business unit’s policies and procedures
  • Understand and participate in LCL’s operating practices with respect to any retail, transport, procurement process and/or other external business units that affect or have the potential to affect compliance initiatives and customer service initiatives to achieve the highest possible standards for the DC’s business objectives
