About The Position

The Senior Compensation Analyst serves as a strategic partner within Dartmouth Health's Human Resources team, leading complex compensation initiatives that support organizational objectives across the health system. This role is responsible for developing and executing market strategies, conducting sophisticated compensation analyses, and driving the standardization of compensation practices, job architecture, and job descriptions across Dartmouth Health. This position leads enterprise-wide compensation initiatives, develops innovative solutions to complex compensation challenges, and serves as a subject matter expert on compensation strategy and best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Human Resources Management, or other closely related field.
  • Four years of Compensation experience required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, including building analyses and models required. Proficiency with other Microsoft Office products also required.
  • Must have in-depth knowledge of compensation theory, techniques, and applicable laws which govern the function.
  • Strong analytical skills, project management skills, and exceptional attention to detail required.
  • Demonstrated ability to build trusted partnerships and deliver exceptional customer service while effectively managing competing priorities and navigating complex organizational relationships.
  • Comfortability solving complex and ambiguous problems.
  • Commitment to continuous process improvement and operational excellence.
  • Proven written, verbal and communication skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Leads complex market pricing analyses and compensation studies to develop strategic recommendations that support Dartmouth Health's compensation philosophy, workforce objectives, and market competitiveness.
  • Develops, evaluates, and recommends compensation programs, salary structures, and standardized pay practices that promote consistency, compliance, fiscal responsibility, and competitive positioning across the health system.
  • Manages enterprise-wide compensation initiatives, including market reviews, pay practice stadardization, organizational redesigns, compensation budget forecasting, and other strategic projects that enhance compensation effectiveness and operational excellence.
  • Conducts comprehensive job and market analyses to evaluate internal equity, market alignment, compression, and other compensation trends, developing recommendations that support equitable and sustainable pay practices.
  • Leads enterprise initiatives to standardize job descriptions, job documentation, and job architecture, ensuring consistent job classification and alignment across Dartmouth Health.
  • Serves as a trusted compensation consultant to Human Resources, operational leaders, and executive leadership by providing expert guidance on compensation strategy, job evaluation, organizational design, and policy interpretation.
  • Ensures compensation programs comply with applicable laws and organizational policies while identifying opportunities to improve processes, strengthen governance, and enhance the consistency and effectiveness of compensation practices.
  • Maintains the integrity of compensation benchmarking through accurate survey participation, job matching, and market pricing. Evaluates year-over-year market trends to identify emerging compensation patterns and inform strategic pay decisions.
