This role supports a utility client in expanding participation in energy advising and home hardening (wildfire resilience) services. You will focus on building relationships with Firewise communities, local governments, and fire departments, helping connect residents with free virtual assessments. This position blends field-based outreach, community engagement, and strategic partnership development to drive program growth and customer participation.

Requirements

  • 2–4 years of relevant experience in retail, merchandising, sales, or community outreach
  • High school diploma or Associate’s degree required
  • Strong relationship-building, communication, and customer engagement skills
  • Experience working in field-based or territory-driven roles, including event participation and local travel
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment with a high degree of independence
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to track interactions and manage multiple priorities
  • Must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the assigned territory (Los Angeles County / Ventura County, California)
  • Must hold a valid driver's license
  • Must successfully pass a post-offer, pre-employment drug test and consent to the company obtaining a motor vehicle report evidencing a satisfactory driving record
  • Must maintain a clean driving record as an ongoing requirement for continued employment
  • Must be authorized to work in the country where the position is located without the need for employer sponsorship or support.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with Firewise communities, local fire departments, municipalities, and community-based organizations through outreach, cold calling, and in-person engagement
  • Promote energy advising and wildfire home hardening services through community events, meetings, and local partnerships
  • Travel throughout a defined territory (LA and Ventura Counties) to attend evening events, community meetings, and on-site engagements
  • Recruit and enroll customers into the program pipeline through direct outreach, presentations, and marketing collaboration
  • Act as the local program representative, addressing questions, overcoming participation barriers, and ensuring a positive customer experience
  • Track outreach activity, maintain accurate records, and document customer interactions in accordance with program requirements
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams (program, engineering, marketing) to improve outreach strategies and increase program participation
