About The Position

AECOM is seeking an experienced Senior Commercial Manager based in New York, NY. The role oversees contract administration and performance, ensuring effective contract management, compliance, and communication throughout the design phase and contract closeout. It combines design management responsibilities with commercial and contractual expertise to address complex challenges and align multidisciplinary teams’ design objectives with business goals. Periodic attendance at the Project Office in Atlanta, GA may be required, with flexibility for travel and remote work as appropriate. The position is a current vacancy that AECOM intends to fill by January 25, 2027. Relocation is not available, and sponsorship for U.S. employment authorization is not available now or in the future. Newly hired employees must attend an in-person Day 1 onboarding at an AECOM office location.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
At least 10 years of experience in design management and contract administration or a related field, or demonstrated equivalent experience and/or education.
Knowledge of commercial and contractual processes in large-scale infrastructure projects.
Experience managing complex contracts and resolving disputes.
Ability to articulate ideas clearly, negotiate agreements, and manage stakeholder relationships.
Ability to analyze problems, forecast risks, and implement solutions.
Experience with invoice review, audit support, and grants management.

Nice To Haves

Legal or advanced commercial experience.
15 years of experience in commercial management and contract administration.
Highway construction industry experience.
Experience with alternate project delivery methods, such as design-build or P3, on major capital design projects.
Experience with infrastructure design and construction, and contract management; working knowledge of construction contracts, technical specifications, and engineering drawing interpretations.
Experience preparing and administering change orders, time impact analyses (TIAs), and impact claims.
Experience supporting mediation, arbitration, and dispute resolution.
Results-focused and self-directed, with the ability to manage multiple project team members, consultants, and contractors for specific initiatives.

Responsibilities

Administer contracts to ensure compliance and performance.
Manage contract modifications, change orders, and claims resolution.
Serve as the primary interface for commercial and contractual challenges during design progression.
Monitor financial performance, identify risks, and recommend corrective actions.
Support dispute resolution and Dispute Review Board (DRB) processes.
Review invoices and deliverables for compliance with contract terms.
Coordinate with the Project Manager and Legal on official contract actions.
Maintain records for audits, grants management, and contract closeout.
Trend and manage errors and omissions (E&O) activities and commercial impacts on design packages.
Prepare weekly performance updates for leadership.
Lead development and maintenance of project risk registers.
Support negotiations for contract change orders and variations.
Manage design issues affecting construction packages.
