Senior Commercial HVAC Technician II
About The Position
This role involves performing advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, service, and repairs on a variety of commercial HVAC systems. The technician will work with equipment such as RTUs, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, VFDs, boilers, VAVs, fan-powered boxes, and air handlers. Responsibilities include preventive maintenance, detailed system inspections, serving as a lead technician on projects, coordinating with junior technicians and subcontractors, and interfacing professionally with clients. The role also requires clear communication of service findings, accurate documentation using BuildOps software, mentoring junior technicians, ensuring safe and high-quality work, and taking ownership of service issues to ensure correct repairs.
Requirements
- Minimum 6 years of HVAC/R and relevant stable work history required
- Advanced troubleshooting experience with commercial HVAC systems
- Strong knowledge of chillers, boilers, RTUs, air handlers, pumps, cooling towers, and controls
- EPA Universal Certification required
- Ability to read blueprints, wiring schematics, and technical manuals
- Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to provide two professional/business references
Nice To Haves
- 7-10 years of commercial HVAC experience preferred, with a strong service background
- BAS/BMS experience is a plus
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Responsibilities
- Perform advanced troubleshooting, diagnostics, service, and repairs on commercial HVAC systems
- Work with RTUs, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, VFDs, boilers, VAVs, fan-powered boxes, air handler, and related equipment
- Perform preventive maintenance and detailed system inspections
- Serve as a lead technician on projects and coordinate with junior technicians and subcontractors
- Interface professionally with building engineers, facility managers, property owners, and customers
- Explain service findings, recommendations, and system conditions clearly
- Maintain accurate and timely service documentation
- Use BuildOps service software to support service and job documentation
- Mentor and train junior technicians
- Ensure work is completed safely and to a high standard
- Take ownership of service issues and ensure repairs are completed the first time correctly
