About The Position

Precisely is seeking a Senior Commercial Director to serve as the senior commercial authority for its most strategic customer relationships. This is a senior individual-contributor role, not a selling role. The position reviews transactions before they reach customers, advises account teams on negotiation strategy and contract structure, and connects Sales, Finance, Legal, and Operations on high-stakes commercial decisions. The role requires executive-level judgment, familiarity with enterprise software agreement mechanics, and the ability to challenge deal assumptions when the structure risks long-term value. It reports with line-of-sight to the CBO. The role may grow into a team lead function as the commercial excellence model matures, but its immediate focus is hands-on deal review and advisory. Success within the first year means measurably improved deal quality across the Strategic Accounts portfolio, proactive engagement from account teams on complex transactions, and an effective commercial review rhythm that strengthens deal structure without slowing deal velocity. The position is 100% remote anywhere in the US, with travel required below 10%.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent work experience in place of the education requirement.
  • At least 7 years of enterprise software or SaaS experience in commercial, deal strategy, or strategic finance roles, with direct exposure to complex contract negotiation.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate and restructure deal economics, including discounting, multi-year terms, licensing constructs, and upsell mechanics, with a focus on long-term value.
  • Working knowledge of enterprise software agreement language, including M&A and divestiture clauses, revenue recognition implications, and contractual risk provisions.
  • Track record of operating cross-functionally with Sales, Finance, Legal, and Operations at a senior level.
  • Ability to engage credibly with C-suite and senior Finance and Legal stakeholders on both sides of a negotiation.
  • Travel required: less than 10%.
  • Proficiency applying AI tools to accelerate work, improve output quality, and eliminate low-value tasks.
  • Comfort using generative AI tools such as Claude and Microsoft Copilot in day-to-day workflows, critically evaluating AI-generated outputs, and continuously adopting new AI capabilities.
  • Use AI tools to accelerate contract analysis, deal modeling, and negotiation preparation; critically evaluate outputs before applying them to high-stakes decisions or customer-facing materials; and stay current on relevant AI capabilities and apply them responsibly.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a Commercial Excellence, Deal Strategy, or Revenue Strategy function at an enterprise software or SaaS company.

  • Exposure to account-based selling models and strategic account planning frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Advise Account Executives and Renewals Account Managers on negotiation strategy, concession sequencing, contractual leverage points, and multi-year structuring.
  • Identify cross-sell, upsell, and expansion opportunities within existing agreements.
  • Coordinate among Sales, Finance, Legal, and Operations to resolve competing priorities without becoming an escalation bottleneck.
  • Work with Finance and Revenue Recognition to ensure deal structures meet margin and revenue recognition requirements before commitments are made.
  • Translate contract language into commercial impact for Sales stakeholders and explain commercial considerations to Legal.
  • Escalate deals requiring executive-level commercial judgment to the CBO with a clear point of view and recommended path.
  • Track deal quality metrics, margin realization, and commercial risk identification across the Strategic Accounts portfolio.
  • Champion AI tools to improve deal analysis, contract review, and commercial modeling workflows.
