Requirements

  • Post-secondary education or related job training, with detailed knowledge of financial accounting and lending principles (Bachelor of Commerce, Business, Finance and Accounting, or other similar degrees would be an asset).
  • 2+ years of experience as a commercial credit analyst or equivalent role.
  • Good working knowledge of banking systems and business account operating procedures.
  • Excellent communication/presentation, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently with confidence and strong commitment to Member service.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours and train both on/off the job to improve general business and lending skills.
  • Strong personal commitment to professional development.
  • Demonstrates a high capacity for increasingly complex workloads.
  • Demonstrates organizational values through leadership and personal behaviors.
  • Comfort learning and adopting new digital tools, with an openness to using AI-enabled technology to enhance productivity, accuracy, and the Member experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with low/no code tools like the Microsoft Power Platform and generative AI productivity tools like Microsoft Copilot is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Assisting Relationship Managers, Senior Relationship Managers, and Directors on the Land Development and Construction team through analysis of financial and account opening data and recommending appropriate courses of action for credit related matters.
  • Understanding Member needs after discussions with the Relationship Managers and being capable of independently writing a lending proposal detailing both the financial and non-financial parameters important to decision making.
  • Managing routine account operating issues encountered by commercial Members, anticipating/recognizing Member needs and proactively making product and service recommendations.
  • Liaising with other Meridian staff and outside product/service suppliers to meet the needs of Members.
  • Establishing personal goals and action plans to support the Business Banking Centre and Retail branch business objectives with some community involvement required.
  • Demonstrating an ongoing willingness to assume higher degrees of accountability and responsibility leading to assumption of a position as a Relationship Manager, Commercial Services.
  • Actively monitoring and managing the profitability of Meridian's relationship with a Member in order to retain and maintain business.
  • Keeping abreast of changes within diverse industry sectors and proactively identifying opportunities to improve the growth and development of the assigned portfolio by analyzing Member needs, trends, and competitor offerings.
