About The Position

Zurich Canada Technical Underwriting is looking for a Senior Actuarial Analyst to join our growing Commercial Business unit. This role supports the pricing of new and renewal business, develops effective premium/rating structures and strategies, and directly supports the transformation of the Commercial lines ecosystem. The Pricing Actuary will partner with key stakeholders from the business, including market-facing underwriters and global pricing teams. This position offers the opportunity to work broadly across Commercial lines and contribute to pricing, portfolio management, and transformation initiatives, building knowledge and experience in a supportive environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Mathematics / Statistics / Actuarial Sciences, or other technical degree
  • 5 Exams or near ACAS or equivalent international certification that is recognized by the CIA
  • 3 or more years of experience in the Actuarial area
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and / or knowledge of statistical analysis software (such as SQL and R)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous actuarial experience in Commercial lines of business
  • Near ACAS designation
  • Experience in multiple functional areas (pricing, reserving, capital management)
  • Ability to explain technical analysis results to non-technical audiences
  • Experience collaborating on cross-functional team projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Support the pricing of new and renewal business.
  • Develop effective premium / rating structures and strategies in support of business objectives.
  • Support the transformation process of the Commercial lines ecosystem.
  • Partner with key stakeholders from the business, including market facing underwriters and global pricing teams to support business objectives.
  • Contribute to various pricing and portfolio initiatives across Commercial lines, including traditional lines (Property, GL) and specialty lines (A&H, Cyber, Professional E&O).
  • Provide consultation on actuarial models and risk issues.
  • Develop pricing models reflecting complex structures of accounts, high deductibles / SIRs, and/or aggregates.
  • Collaborate with market-facing underwriters to deliver creative solutions to clients and support technical underwriters on pricing decisions.
  • Set and communicate pricing algorithm requirements for production systems.
  • Monitor performance of business portfolios and track accuracy and completeness of key performance indicators.
  • Evolve lines of business with new insights and pricing techniques.
  • Ensure the implementation of required governance processes, maintaining compliance with organizational standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop an international network by sharing and leveraging insights on best practices with global colleagues.
