About The Position

Microsoft Customer & Partner Solutions accelerates customer outcomes and business growth by bringing product, engineering, marketing, sales, customer success, and partners together around customer needs. Within the International Customer Success Organization, this role supports strategic, innovative, and complex customers operating globally. The Senior Cloud Solution Architect focuses on Azure Government Cloud and hybrid infrastructure, including Azure Government landing zones, government-cloud migrations, GCC/GCC High/DoD boundaries, and regulated environments. The role modernizes and secures cloud foundations for applications, data platforms, and approved AI workloads using the Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF), Well-Architected Framework (WAF), and reusable delivery assets. It combines architecture and hands-on implementation with engagement leadership, operational excellence, and measurable deployment milestones. Government-cloud service availability and authorization must be validated rather than assumed to match commercial-cloud capabilities. The position offers 100% remote flexibility and requires verification of U.S. citizenship by valid passport because of citizenship-based legal restrictions related to government customers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Business, or a related field and 4+ years of experience in one or more listed technology areas, or equivalent experience.
  • Required experience areas include application or database modernization, security, resiliency, AI-ready platform technologies, IT consulting/support, systems administration, network operations, software development/support, technology solutions, practice development, architecture, and/or consulting.
  • U.S. citizenship; verification is required via a valid passport.
  • Deep hands-on experience with networking, hybrid connectivity, Microsoft Entra ID, Zero Trust, privileged access, automation, monitoring, and recovery, plus customer-facing delivery in regulated environments.
  • 4+ years of experience working in a customer-facing role, internal and/or external.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience designing, implementing, or operating workloads in Azure Government or a related environment, with understanding of Azure Government, GCC, GCC High, and DoD boundaries.
  • Awareness of applicable FedRAMP, DoD IL2/IL4/IL5, NIST 800-53, CJIS, IRS 1075, and CMMC frameworks, including shared responsibility and evidence needs for customer ATO processes.
  • Experience with commercial-to-government infrastructure migration or GCC High integration.
  • Azure architecture, administration, networking, or security certification.

Responsibilities

  • Build trusted relationships with IT leaders, translate mission priorities into technical outcomes, and share customer insights and product feedback with Microsoft teams.
  • Design and implement Azure Government landing zones and hybrid foundations using CAF and WAF, including management groups, Azure Policy, RBAC, Microsoft Defender for Cloud, private connectivity, network segmentation, and infrastructure automation; validate service and feature availability in the target government environment.
  • Implement identity and access patterns using Microsoft Entra ID and Zero Trust principles, including privileged access, Conditional Access, PIM, and cross-tenant scenarios. Account for Azure Government, GCC, GCC High, and DoD boundaries; data residency and sovereignty requirements; and cross-cloud integration constraints.
  • Lead complex infrastructure engagements from discovery through implementation and operational handover. Coordinate with CSAMs and account teams on success and consumption plans, proofs of concept, pilots, production milestones, delivery ownership, and acceptance criteria.
  • Plan commercial-to-government migrations around service, feature, and roadmap differences and GCC High integration constraints.
  • Partner with customer security and compliance teams on control design and evidence supporting applicable FedRAMP, DoD IL2/IL4/IL5, NIST 800-53, CJIS, IRS 1075, and CMMC requirements. Clarify shared responsibility, customer-owned controls, and ATO dependencies and timelines; support authorization processes without granting ATO or promising accreditation.
  • Assess and deliver infrastructure migrations across networking, security, compute, storage, and Kubernetes readiness. Establish monitoring, capacity, performance, backup, and BCDR; coordinate cutover, recovery validation, and post-migration stabilization.
  • Resolve technical blockers, manage delivery risks, and coordinate escalations with Factory and Unified teams. Maintain workload health and operational readiness, with clear ownership and handover to customer operations.
  • Enable secure foundations for approved AI workloads through sovereign deployment patterns and data controls. Validate service availability and customer authorization in Azure Government, including Azure OpenAI only where approved and available.
  • Develop reusable templates, automation, and delivery guidance; share community lessons, identify next workload opportunities, and maintain technical learning and certifications.
  • Embody Microsoft’s culture and values.
