About The Position

The Senior Cloud Engineer designs, deploys, and manages AWS cloud infrastructure supporting business applications and services. The role focuses on optimizing infrastructure performance and cost efficiency, automating infrastructure management, and ensuring cloud environments are secure, reliable, and available. It also implements backup, restoration, and disaster recovery strategies to support business continuity. The engineer works with cross-functional, DevOps, software engineering, and platform teams to translate business requirements into cloud solutions and integrate infrastructure into application development and deployment processes, including cloud-native microservices and serverless architectures. The role develops documentation and runbooks, monitors AWS technologies and industry trends, leads small- to medium-scale projects, troubleshoots infrastructure and deployment issues, and mentors junior engineers. The position requires reporting to the Austin, Texas office; telecommuting is permitted.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
Five years of experience in cloud infrastructure engineering.
Experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS).
Experience with infrastructure as code using tools such as Terraform and AWS CloudFormation.
Experience implementing serverless architecture.
Experience designing scalable and resilient infrastructure.
Experience with Identity and Access Management (IAM).
Experience developing deployment-automation tools and scripts in Python, Bash, and PowerShell.
Experience integrating cloud solutions into the software development life cycle (SDLC).
Experience with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) using tools such as Git, Jenkins, or Bitbucket.
Must be available to report to the Austin, Texas office; telecommuting is permitted.

Responsibilities

Design, deploy, and manage AWS cloud infrastructure for business applications and services.
Use performance metrics and monitoring tools to optimize infrastructure performance and cost efficiency.
Develop and maintain automation scripts and infrastructure-as-code templates.
Ensure cloud environments are secure, reliable, and available, applying best practices and compliance standards.
Implement and manage backup, restore, and disaster recovery strategies for cloud infrastructure and applications.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and provide cloud solutions.
Create documentation and runbooks to accelerate adoption of cloud services by engineering and platform teams.
Stay current with AWS technologies and industry trends and recommend improvements.
Implement cloud security, identity and access management, encryption, and compliance best practices.
Work with DevOps and software engineering teams to integrate cloud infrastructure into application development and deployment, with a focus on cloud-native microservices and serverless architecture.
Lead small- to medium-scale projects and initiatives, planning effectively and ensuring successful execution.
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues involving cloud infrastructure, networking, and application deployment.
Mentor junior engineers and share AWS knowledge and best practices.
