About The Position

The Senior Cloud Engineer will take on the challenge of building, architecting, and maintaining complex infrastructure and data systems on the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) for 66degrees' global clients. As a key consultant, you will be instrumental in steering performance, scalability, and security of these critical cloud environments, ensuring our clients receive expert-level strategic guidance and technical excellence.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with cloud platforms, with a deep mastery of GCP, showcasing expertise in designing, deploying, and managing complex, multi-tenant cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Proven experience in a professional services or consulting environment, with the ability to manage client expectations and translate business requirements into technical specs.
  • Advanced proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform, Deployment Manager, or similar platforms, including modular design and state management.
  • In-depth understanding of GCP services such as Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Anthos, Cloud Storage, Networking (VPC Service Controls, Shared VPC), and IAM.
  • Experienced in deploying and optimizing Google Cloud Data services such as BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Dataflow, Firestore, Cloud Bigtable, Dataproc, and Pub/Sub for efficient data storage, processing, and analytics.
  • Skilled in scripting languages like Python and Bash for automation and configuration management, and proficient in managing both Linux and Windows OS.
  • Strong grasp of security best practices, compliance frameworks (e.g., CIS, GDPR, HIPAA), and experience implementing Zero Trust architecture.
  • Excellent client-facing communication, and collaboration abilities, with a track record of leading technical discovery sessions.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related or equivalent work experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • GCP Professional Cloud Architect, Professional Cloud Security Engineer, or Professional Cloud DevOps Engineer certification (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Act as a primary technical consultant, providing strategic advisory and hands-on expertise to 66degrees’ clients throughout their cloud journey.
  • Lead collaborations with architects and stakeholders to design enterprise-grade, highly scalable, and resilient infrastructure solutions on GCP.
  • Drive the implementation of advanced Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using tools like Terraform or Google Cloud Deployment Manager to automate global-scale infrastructure provisioning and management.
  • Spearhead the integration of DevOps methodologies, mentoring junior engineers and guiding developers to establish sophisticated CI/CD pipelines within the cloud ecosystem.
  • Assume a leadership role in implementing and enforcing stringent security measures and ensuring robust compliance with data privacy regulations (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA) in the GCP environment.
  • Architect and establish comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and logging solutions to guarantee the continuous health and availability of all infrastructure components.
  • Formulate and oversee comprehensive backup and disaster recovery strategies and procedures for mission-critical systems.
  • Proactively identify, analyze, and mitigate complex performance bottlenecks, performing cost-optimization audits to maximize client ROI.
  • Take charge of diagnosing and swiftly resolving the most intricate infrastructure issues, providing expert guidance and support during high-priority incidents.
  • Drive comprehensive documentation of cloud architecture, configurations, and processes, creating high-level architectural diagrams and playbooks for a clear knowledge repository.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with diverse teams, including data scientists, engineers, analysts, and software developers, ensuring alignment with business objectives and delivering innovative solutions.
