Senior Cloud Engineer
About The Position
The Cloud and Infrastructure Engineering Center is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer with a desire to work on innovative advanced approaches and technologies to solve our sponsors’ most critical technological problems. In this role you will provide architectural and hands-on support to critical customer problems in cloud computing and DevOps as well as software development and architecture. In addition, you will have an opportunity to work in several specialty fields with information technology to include Infrastructure Applications, IaaS, PaaS, Cloud Computing (including OS & Application virtualization), platform migration, server consolidation, utility computing, and grid computing.
Requirements
- Typically requires a minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years with a Master’s degree; or a PhD with relevant experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Ability to obtain a Top Secret security clearance
- Strong experience with one or more commercial cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud)
- Strong working knowledge of at least one major cloud platform (e.g., AWS) and associated DevOps tools (e.g., GitHub, Jenkins, or similar)
- Strong experience with configuration management and automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Chef, Puppet, or similar)
- Troubleshooting and analytical skills with the ability to independently diagnose and resolve technical issues
- Good communication and collaboration skills, with experience working across teams
- Strong experience implementing DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
- Strong proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Go, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, or C#)
- This position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site
- Per the U.S. Government’s eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance.

- Approximately 5 years of experience in a technical field, including at least 2 years of cloud experience
- Master’s degree in computer science, Computer Engineering, or a related field with relevant cloud experience
- Strong understanding of DevOps principles and experience applying them in practice
- Demonstrated ability to lead small efforts or contribute to project leadership within a team environment
- Experience designing and implementing solutions in one or more commercial cloud platforms
- Ability to contribute to architectural discussions for cloud-based solutions
- Proficient knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies, including Kubernetes and Docker
- Proficient knowledge of data engineering concepts, including ETL processes and distributed data processing
- Expert knowledge in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Go, Java, JavaScript, TypeScript, or C#)
Responsibilities
- Independently identify, analyze, and resolve infrastructure vulnerabilities and application deployment issues
- Review existing systems and contribute recommendations to sponsors and MITRE projects for improvement
- Collaborate with development teams to evaluate and identify optimal cloud solutions
- Support the design and implementation of cloud-based solutions and DevOps practices
- Contribute to technical discussions and provide input to solution approaches within a team environment
